Aw, I'm sorry AJ. That sucks. But the question is really whether you were into him or not, right? I don't know. I think he was probably interested if he asked you to hang out with him later. And it's kind of encouraging that he made the date even though his car was in the shop, isn't it? I would have canceled personally.
hey, nice twist on the bad date! maybe he was just really shy and nervous. blind dates can be nerve-wracking. very cool that he called and you ended up chatting for so long and had so much in common after all!

I would have probably given him the benefit of the doubt (maybe he was nervous or his friend had to be somewhere) and gone on a second date though. However, it is "later" and he still hasn't called.... Okay, so when I was in the middle of writing the paragraph above, he called. He decided not to go out, but we talked on the phone for an hour and a half. For some reason, I felt much more of a connection on this phone call. We just have so much in common. It's almost scary. I think he definitely warrants another date.
That's great! Isn't it weird how our perceptions can change once we get to know a person? With very few exceptions, I think most half-way decent guys deserve a second date to make a better impression. Maybe us too? Keep us updated!
