What do you think of the new sequins trend? I'm so not normally a sequins girl, but I've been strangley attracted to them lately. I haven't bought anything with them yet, but am considering it. I might tread lightly with a scarf like this and wear it with a grey short sleeve sweater and a white long sleeve tee shirt.
What do you think? Do you think the look will be tired by January?
I like it, but I like anything shiny and sparkly :)
I bought a cool tee at Nordstrom covered with matte sequins, so it's not super-obvious-disco shiny. I've worn it out to a bar solo and under a blazer to work. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite pieces!
I don't really love the scarf, but I like sequins: I have seen around very nice little sequined dresses. I was contemplating the idea of attaching some sequins on a black tank I don't really use now...
I think that idea will look super cute. I like sequin scarves as that little added something to a regular outfit. Then again, I like sequins...in moderation...in general. I've used them to cover small bleach stains on a skirt and sewed them on the edge of short sleeves and the bottom hem on an otherwise boring tee.

ooh if you do that let me know how it goes. I've been mulling over diying sequins on some old clothes myself!

I was thinking about this too. I even went to Michael's to look for some but all they had were the colored ones.
I'm still on the fence. I do think the look works on others, but it's just so unlike me. It might be the holiday influence. I'll have to think some more.
Last fall shiny/satiny fabrics for daytime became popular and I was all over that - and still am. This is kind of an extreme version of it.
I don't like the skinny scarf because it says "look at me! I'm on trend." Maybe a wider chiffon scarf/shawl with a smattering of sequins would satisfy the urge, and generally look more classic. I do like a little sparkle or beading on an otherwise plain top or sweater, and that's something you could wear now and save for nighttime when the trend is done.
I bought a black empire-cut cami with sequins on the bodice at a thrift store a little while ago and I like it under a plain black cardigan with jeans and boots for dinner out, or a party at someone's house, that kind of "semi-casual" occasion. I doubt I'd wear it during the day - it's definitely not officey.
I love sequins, and I have for my whole life... maybe it's from back in the grade school dance class days and the recital costumes...
So when I saw this dress at White House Black Market last month, I grabbed it! I don't know when I will wear it, but I'm dying for a good opportunity.
And I like the scarf. For some reason, maybe all in my head, I seem to think holidays with sparkles and sequins, so I don't know about January. But I think it's really cute, and if I had it I would still wear it in January.

I like it and have yet to find the perfect sequined top or skirt to buy. However, I think it will pass after the holidays or when it gets closer to the end of winter.
I love sequins!!! And I actually bought some sequin leggings *gasp* But they're super cute if done right ;) Any excuse to wear something sparkly and I'm all over it!!!
