Amidst all of the Lohan, Mary Kate and Ashley, Nicole Ritchie, etc.... It is so nice to see the Dove commercials. Women who are beautiful in all shapes and sizes, that are unphoto-shopped, with real breasts, real curves, real cellulite, even real wrinkles! I say it's about time that beauty be ackowledged in many forms.
i'd like to try their new body lotions but haven't been able to find them so far (my response probably belongs in the health and beauty area). but the women in the commercial look beautiful.
I haven't seen the commercial yet, but I just saw the new print ad in the August Marie Claire.
I love that we are trying to move away from the plastic look, but I still feel glum about how fast the movement will go in getting results. The other end of the spectrum (Hollywood/high fashion cities) seems to be pushing ever harder in the other (plastic) direction.
I love those commercials, too! Their genuineness makes them so original and appealing. I'm so sick and tired of all the models in ads looking exactly the same - and so fake to boot!
Yay for Marilyn Monroe! I know exactly what you mean...for so many people she still epitomizes womanly beauty, and she wasn't skinny at all! Now if only clothes designers would design for people shaped like her...
Okay, it's great that the media is speaking about how great booties and curves are but what about the rest of us with out booties and curves? It's like, before it was all skin and bones and now it's all about curves but either way we are leaving out an entire group of women aren't we? P.s. I LOVE that dove commercial song da da da da.......

You defintely have a point. The dove commericals are great because they show women in their natural light and being empowered about themselves. But I would love to see a naturally thin girl in the mix with all the other curvy girls...I think that would REALLY say something positive, that all body types are acceptable and admirable and that no matter what you look like, you are female and that is awesome.

The Dove commercials feature people with EVERY type of body (well, okay, I'm sure there are some people out there who would say they're not represented). But really, they've got curvy, thin, big, everything!

my mother laughs at the Marilyn Monroe wore a 14/16 comment b/c back THEN it was the size... but now that is the equlivilant (sp?) of a 6/8
my mother was 5'0 and 98 pounds at the same time MM wore a 14/16. nowadays my mom would have worn a O but back then she wore an 8!!!! they didn't make anything smaller than that and my mom hated that even an 8 wasn't quite right of a fit...
just some information that my mom and i giggle at... still at a 6/8 size- she def. wasn't skeletal!
