I don't usually see chestnuts in the US! The first time I had roasted chestnuts was in China, actually, and they're delicious.
We had ten people for dinner and two dogs. We made:
24 pound turkey gravy from drippings rosemary and garlic mashed potatoes sweet potatoes and butternut squash casserole with crispy brown sugar crust green beans crescent rolls two kinds of stuffing - I just use stovetop and then add a bunch of onions, celery, cranberries, and walnuts until you can't tell it's mostly from a box (my husband gets a batch without nuts and cranberries since he doesn't like them) whole-berry cranberry sauce and the jellied kind from the can
The rest of the family brought apps and desserts: key lime pie chocolate cream pie apple pie brownies chocolate chip cookies cheese platter and assorted chips and dips
It's always chaos, haven't figured out quite how to make everything without using every dish in the kitchen, it seems like, and all the silverware, and I always need more serving dishes. Everything turned out well, though.
