my mom let me wear heels around the house around that age.

but i don't see the rational in shopping with the kid like that- its only going to end in one cranky achy footed little girl.

Little kids like to dress-up. Little girls like to dress up like princesses, etc. Little boys like to dress up like superheros. I'm guessing that she was just playing and mom didn't make an issue of it, ya know?

I don't know what to think. I had dress up ruby slipper heels when I was little but I don't think I ever wore them out shopping. There have been a lot of pictures of her in those shoes lately I think. But....I'm not a mom and I don't have a lot of little girls in my life so I don't really know what the "norm" is

I played dress up also - I think most little girls have had those crazy plastic Barbie heels with mirabu glued on.
To me, the shoes Suri is wearing are very adult in style. That's what freaked me out a bit. I'll probably faint when Bug is big enough to shop in the tween section wink as some (not all) of the offerings there seem to be too adult for my taste also.

I used to play dress up with those plastic heels too (or my mom's heels!) but I was never allowed out in public in them! My first more grown-up pair of heels was when I was 11 or 12?

I'm not a fan of little girls in real heels - their childhood is short enough already, y'know?

I don't have a little girl ( i have 2 boys) but I don't agree on letting your little girl out with little heels. Play with, yes, of course. But to wear out as if it's a normal thing, nope. and I've also seen her wear these kinds of shoes out more than once.

My mom never let me, but for her it was all about foot development. We had to wear shoes with arch support and laces until I was at least 10. Suri could have bunions by 18!

I don't consider myself to be too prudish, but I saw it on entertainment news yesterday, where BIlly Bush was bursting with cutiness of this picture & I thought: how much it is in bad taste...I was a little girl myself, loved dress up, played with mommy's heels & later even became a fashion designer, but I don't think it's the right age. 1 thing to wear it with Princess polyester gown from a Disney store & another with the stylish outfit for an every day...sorry...I don't even understand why this shoe model is made in this size...

I noticed at Target that there are TONS of smallish heels like that in the little girls section. I was never allowed to wear them either but actual heels for little girls didn't exist then outside of dress up shoes. That said, I don't let my daughter wear them because I don't think they are good for growth and development.

The shoes don't even look like they fit her. In the photo one heel is coming out as she's walking. That can't be good.

I think there are plenty of ways to let little girls play dress up without letting them dress like adults on a daily basis. I've seen her in other photos with heels on too, so I don't believe it's just a one time "I'll give in this fight today" situation with Katie. I'd worry about her foot development too if this is a routine thing.

I wore them when I was little. Not all of the time, but on special occasions or to church.

Regarding Katie, she has had a lot of unfortunate shots lately. Definitely not looking her best...

i have an 8 yr. old that occasionally wears wedges, which i think is fine, as long as they're not too high. however, it really depends on the shoe, in my opinion, and as long as they're not worn everyday, it's probably ok.

Nope, not prudish at all. This is a major pet peeve of mine. Let them be kids for goodness sake, people!! It's a cute outfit otherwise - but would look so much better with little ballet flats. Suri has to be miserable walking in those - they don't fit and her little feet aren't meant for heels yet. I have a four yr old girl and she only wears heels when she plays dress up in the house (obviously not for long term wear).
