So my roommates are leaving (thank God!!!!!!!!) and they're taking their couch with them, leaving me seatless. I'm a college student, ie broke, so I need something fairly inexpensive. I live in BFE California, so not much is around me. Any ideas please???
When I was in that situation I hit craigslist. If you live in a smaller area of CA it may not have a listing for your city but maybe a larger town closer to you. I know the bay area and LA have alot of listings for couches. I found a great one for a great price. They even have pics so you don't have to make a trip for nothing. Just a suggestion if used is an option for you. Ikea is good for cheap if you want new. Check out the website first to see if there is anything worth making a trip for. Good luck.
You may want to check out homereserve.com. You can get a sofa for $299 with $47 shipping! Plus they have tons of fabric options for you to choose from. The downside why it's so inexpensive is that you have to put the furniture together yourself which takes 2 or 3 hours. I think this is a good idea if you have a low budget and want to pick out the perfect color and material!
My gradaution present was a sofabed from Jennifer Convertibles. It cost $599 plus $75 delivery and it's MUCH better than anything I've ever seen at IKEA. Their clearance room is also worth digging...I almost bought a $99 ottoman from it.
Pier One is a good source - they have cute inexpensive futon couches that convert to beds. That was my first couch. After upgrading several times, I have a couch that I adore. People actually love to come stay at my place just so they can sleep on my couch. Its weird, but it is so comfortable! Got it at Storehouse. Wasn't too expensive. Well worth the money.
