I bought a box of truffles from the Barnes and Nobles nearby last weekend, just as a little treat for me and my man. Much to our dismay the chocolates were gross; they kind of all tasted the same and tasted like nothing. Very strange. I couldn't find an expiration date, but I assumed they had gone bad, because I eat Godiva from the shop every couple of months and know just how good their stuff is.
I was annoyed because the treat cost $32, but I was embarressed to go back to Barnes and Nobles because we had taken bites out of half the chocolates to test them. I was afraid Barnes and Nobles wouldn't believe me or something, since so many chocolates had been tasted. I called the 800# from the website instead to talk to customer service. The CS rep I spoke with was very pleasent, only asking me for the lot # on the box and when and where they were purchased. The lady offered immediately to send me a fresh box straight from the factory. I was very nervous because of the 90 degree weather we were having, but I agreed.
To my pleasent surprise the chocolates were sent in a nice big box with dry ice, and they were as tasty and yummy as they should have been (that's when I knew the last box had definately gone bad -thank goodness I never got a tummy ache). I was so happy that Godiva fixed the problem without any hassle.
