I like the color, and it always looks very nice against tan skin. I think a white lightwieght sweater is a great piece everyone should own. But it seems like this new trend is overdoing white. Also I think white jeans are so unrealisitc. Unless you're a size 2, I feel like white jeans would make a persons bottom look bigger than it actually is. Who decided this white trend? Do you all like it?
I agree. White pants are the worse. On my wide bum, it would look horrific. Then there's the underwear issue. Do you wear one or not? Either way, you can see through the whiteness and it just looks bad.
I've always liked white, trend or not, but I stay away from white jeans. I don't need to look like I have a bigger rear end or bigger thighs. I think as long as the white isn't overdone, then it can look really fresh and summery. I especially like white with navy for more nautical type looks.
I love the white trend and have been buying a ton of white lately.. flowy skirts and tops and sweaters... but White pants is NOT something I will be purchasing either.
i like white. i'm wearing a white skirt now. i don't really think it's a trendy, to me white pants are a part of summer. i also like white pants and wear them. and i'm nowhere near a size 2. i think a well cut pair of white pants can look really elegant.
I looooove white!! I like white jeans (I own a pair), white pants (ditto on owning a pair) and head-to-toe white. However, I don't wear head-to-toe white with white pants/jeans; I usually wear a skirt. I have always loved white, so this really isn't a trend for me. It's just something I've always liked.
PS---I like my white jeans with longer tunic tops (it alleviates the issue of the wide bum look)
I agree with honey. I have white pants - not jeans, though I will be buying some - and they can look really crisp with some things. I love pairing them with bold, summery-hued colors. I also have two white skirts and wear them a lot in summer.
I think the trick - esp. with pants - is to find some that are *not* see through. I personally HATE to see even front pockets through the pants (and esp. hate to see underwear in the back), so I am really, really picky (read: anal) about what white pants I buy. They have to be heavy enough fabric, or well-made enough so that you don't just see everything underneath.
As for underwear, I have some CK thongs that work wonderfully under my white pants, and also some full coverage ones for under skirts. And, I'm a size 6 with a booty and a 36C chest - not a stick figure. *s*

I love white bottoms as well...I have several pairs of white pants...and I'm currently looking for a white skirt. I am not skinny and I don't think they make me look any heavier than any other pants...I think the key is finding the perfect fit. I like white pants a that are slightly loose and slouchy but not messy looking. I usually don't have a problem with underwear...I nude thong usually does the trick. I'm not really a fan of white jeans as they are too fitted for my taste. I pair my white bottoms with lots of brights...turquoise, hot pink, lime, orange which in my opinion is a perfect summer look. I also like white with nuetrals like brown, beige and navy with a shot of an accent color.
I have always loved white in the summer - so crisp and cleaf feeling. I don't feel like it's a trend, more of a seasonal thing, like dark colors in the fall.
White pants are tricky - you can find a great pair but it takes a lot of searcing. I had an awesome pair that I outgrew.
head to toe white as in a nice white tank w. white skirt is nice - but there are just a lot of precautionary planning involved. Nude seamless thongs are the best way to go.
White is my black. No really. I don't wear much to any black, but I LOVE, LOVE white. I was just thinking this morning how I could use a pair of white jeans. I wear head to toe white too. I love the look. I wear nude underwear (not thongs) and even if the white is pretty sheer, you can't see nude under things.
I have to go against the crowd. Although I love the look of white on others, I always feel like my butt looks too big (in truth it is) in anything white on bottom, skirts, pants, shorts, capris. I also can't keep it clean for more than 15 minutes. I think when I put on white, I become a magnent for food spills, dirty kid hands, rubbing up against wet paint.....you get the idea. I have a white denim jacket I love, but refer to my problem #2, it's always seems to be in the dirty clothes.

I like white and have no problem with white pants, but I DO think this trend is becoming overdone. One big reason I don't like white is because it shows dirt so easily! And I still have this psychological issue with white shoes too, somehow it reminds me of the eighties pastel phase, even though today's shoes are much classier.
Oh, and for the see-through problem with some pants, I wear a tan or gold colored thong.

I love white - i agree that it looks so crisp and fresh for summer! I own a pair of white capri pants, not jeans, and a white skirt. I agree w/most of the girls that posted that the trick is finding a nice pair, that are not see-through. I think white can look really great if paired w/the right thing. I don't think it's really a trend though, it's a staple of summer for me.
I Love White! But then again, I am constantly not wanting my dog to hop on me in order to preserve the whiteness.
However, the white jeans look... not yet going for. I like classic crisp whites in trousers, skirts, and I just bought a pair of walking (or bermuda) shorts in white.
In order to do it, you do need to invest in some "nude" or skin-colored panties.

I got some that I love from Hollister...I'd been looking for white pants forever, but on my you can ALWAYS see the pockets through the pants. But the ones I got from Hollister aren't see through, and they fit great. I have a big booty, and if anything I think I look thinner in my white pants. I think they were called the Thalia pants (they come in khaki or white), but I'm not 100% sure. I looked online, but they're no longer on there. However, I was in Hollister on Sunday, and the pants were still there.
Good luck, and I say go for the white pants! Personally, I love white!
i too like the white trend, but i have always owned an insane amount of white tops.
i just bought a pair of white pants at the gap and i feel like you can't see my undies as long as they aren't too bright but you can see the pockets and i hate it. should i cut them out or is it really not that bad?
To be honest I didn't even realize that white was a trend right now? I love white & wear it every summer! White pants & skirts are as part of my summer wardrobe as ivory in the winter. Might not be the most practical, but I've always loved the look. I bought white sevens four years ago and I still wear them. I think the trick is to find white pieces that are flattering to your figure and not too see-through. I love my nude boy shorts with white bottoms - in my opinion, they are the best for disguising VPLs.

Here's a little trick I've learned. If the pants are see-through only in the pocket area, cut the pockets as close to the top as you can and resew them shut so you have mini pockets. They aren't useful, but it eliminates the pocket problem.
