aw, that sounds so exciting!  how much is it?  i just wish i could get over my fear of telling people how i met someone... my biggest thing is i want a "story" to tell the grandkids.  like my parents went to the same HS but never knew eachother but then ended up working at a place called Zodie's (kinda like Wal-Mart from what i understand) together.  my dad was in the camera dept. & i think my mom was in the clothing dept.  so my dad would come by all the time & ask my mom if she wanted to buy a camera (he's a cheese ball!).  i just think it's so cute as opposed to "we met online".  i mean, am i being lame & excluding some really great guy just cuz i want a good story to tell??  by the time i have grandkids meeting someone online will probably be like "we met at the grocery store"!!  ugh, i'm so torn... anyways, please keep us updated w/ how it goes!!

ETA:  so i got curious & checked out match.com... i already found my dream man!!!

lol, I've thought this too. But then, you can always embellish: how awkward your first date was, how he was so much hotter in person (hopefully!), all that.... I figure, a lot of the stories are exaggerated, right? That's the fun of it

By the time we're old and have grandkids, everyone's story will be that they met online! I think it was an article in Cosmo that said 1 in 3 women online date. So don't fret. If you don't think it's a big deal, no one else will either. And if they do, who cares?

Btw, your boy looks smokin'!! Send him a wink!

All this talk of match makes me think I should get back into it.  I could use some new blood for the summer...

I have to ask because although i'm married I'm intrigued by this whole online dating thing you girls are trying, so I want to live vicariously.....

So I read the 4 steps - you don't exchange photos until the end? Just curious - I am SO torn about that part because I know we prejudge on looks so much. I think it would increase the number of people that you go out with that you wouldn't normally go out with maybe because you chose a "look" instead of a person. But on the other hand, that's kinda scary - what if he's really sweet but ugly? Just curious - I'm SO INTRIGUED!!!

i was on Yahoo personals for a while, and wasn't crazy about it, but this EHarmony thing sounds much better.  i like how no one can contact you after you've decided they're not a match.  it sounds a lot safer and more secure, so you don't need to worry about anyone bugging you.

good luck!  this should be fun!

p.s. crystal, your dream guy is way cute!

First off- Crystal, wow! That guy's hot!

I've been doing the online thing for a while now, and it's fun. In fact I went on a date with a guy from online last night! Let me just say, NICE body. Hahahaha....
Yahoo! Personals is not worth the money. For some reason there is a serious lack of responses. Plus, there aren't many features. I would recommend Match b/c it's the most popular, therefore a wider range of people, and it also has some fun features (like being able to see who has looked at your profile). I haven't found my "one true love" online, but I'm having a lot of fun dating lots of intersting people! I don't know that I will ever find "the one" doing this, but it's been a great way to meet interesting people and get out of the house. Plus, it can be a great confidence booster!

Go out and HAVE FUN!!!!!!

Oh.  My.  God.  My friend and I were goofing around on Match to see if anyone we knew was on it.  We found one of my exes and also some people we went to school with.  We looked at their profiles.  So...they can tell that I looked at it?  I have a profile but it is hidden. So freaking out right now... The worst part is that we found the one for my ex.  He doesn't live near us at all.  We specifically searched his area just for him.  So it would be obvious.  I suck.  Now everyone must think I am an internet stalker. How can you see who is looking at your profile?  I am signed in right now and trying to find out.-- Edited by Andrea Julia at 14:07, 2005-06-10

I think she means that you can see the NUMBER of people that looked at your profile, not the actual count/names of those who did...so I think you are safe...

Haha, no, you can actually see the profiles of the people who have looked at your profile. You can choose to "hide" your profile so it doesn't show up, but if you haven't then... Anyway, they did remove that feature for a couple of days, but have since put it back on. You have to be a paying subscriber, though, to view that part. So just cross your fingers that your ex didn't fork up the money for Match!! Good luck!!!

LOL - I am SO laughing at this because it sounds like something that would happen to me. That is so funny - although like shopgirl82 I'm sorry for laughing because I know that had to be a nightmare for a minute there!!

hahaha! very funny. and terrifying, all at the same time. i'm sure he doesn't know how to do it or wouldn't bother looking. don't worry about it! but it's true - this is definitely a bridget moment!

crystal your post made me laugh. I HATE, hate, telling people that my BF & I met online. I realized recently it isn't because of the online thing... it's because I don't like to admit that I was actually looking for someone to date! I know that not enjoying being lonely doesn't automatically make you some desperate boy-crazy ninny, but I still don't like to admit it. ;)

AJ, I've known several people who've had good results form eharmony. can't wait to hear how it goes!
