Looking for great guest towels
Permalink Closed

Was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for some good quality, fluffy towels- have visitors coming to stay and would like to get rid of the old towels. Any recommendations appreciated- even better if I can get them at Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy's, or and dept store. Online is okay too. TIA!

I have these from Bed Bath and Beyond and I love them so far.  I've only had them for 2 months so I don't know how they will hold up over the long term but they seem like they will do fine.  They are very fuzzy though and leave fuzz all over the bathroom.  I'm hoping after another couple of washes that it ends.

I have Martex towels from Costco that are pretty nice - I mainly got them because the bath sheets are huge. Might be worth a look if you're a Costco shopper.

If we don't get Restoration Hardware towels (which are our ultimate fave), we like the Hotel brand that is readily available at stores like BB&B.

Thanks for the advice ladies- I'm a bit clueless when it comes to towels and bedding etc! This helps a lot.

P.S. Our dear friend AllieGurl once said that all her towels, in every bathroom, were white - regardless of size, brand, etc. This is so they would always match, so she could always wash them together, and so she could bleach the heck out of them if necessary.

I like this policy and plan to copy it when I need to replace/augment my towels, only I'm going with black instead of white.

I've had great luck with towels from HomeGoods. And yes, going all white is much easier.

We went with Navy and Black so we could wash together.  I had cream before and hated them.  Discolored, showed dirt, and were just gross after 1 year.  I could definitely see how white would be a better option if you wanted to go with a light color as the bleach would help.

Think I'll go with all white. Have had towels that have faded really badly and hate when I have to wash separately. I like the idea of all black/navy too though. Hmm.

Navy won't really work if the goal is to make sure all future purchases will match. There's too much variation in shades of navy. Some shades of navy are greener, some grayer, some brighter, etc. (Which is partly why I dislike navy and refuse to wear it.)

Black works for us because our bathrooms have a retro vibe with black/white tile or white/gray marble. It may be too harsh for some color schemes.

We did all white at our house.  I found that our colored hand towels and washcloths would smell bad even after washing them.  I love being able to bleach the crap out of all my towels.  smile.gif

ps we did the same thing w/ kitchen towels -- got the bartender kind at Crate & Barrel.

Not to hijack this thread, but what happened to AllieGurl? I haven't seen her on here in a long time.

I have white hand towels in my bathroom and guest bathroom. I had colored ones before, but they faded too much. White ones are much easier to clean, except sometimes mine turn a little yellow?

I tried this once and found that they get grey a little, no matter how much bleach I used (too much bleach, and they lost their softness.
