weird period symptoms, am i the only one?

does anyone else notice that they become a lot ditzier during that time of month?  i can't talk, i'm more absent minded, i drop things, i trip, i'm an even worse driver than usual, etc., and i swear all this is especially the case during my period.  also, i'm really really thirsty.

has anyone experienced or heard of such a thing?  is it just me?

Oh my goodness, is that what it is??  I have been experiencing those exact same things, and wondering if I have some kind of disease. . .  But now that you mention it, it could be hormonal.  I was ready to go see a doctor, but maybe I'll give it a month.  I'm glad it's not just me!

Absolutely--it's caused primarily by the drop in estrogen levels. Estrogen binds salts causing you to retain water. And, you'll love to hear this, it gets worse as you get older.

Through trial and error, and later confirmed in reading an article on women's symptoms, I found that avoiding simple carbohydrates, salt and caffeine a week to 10 days before the expected period helps a lot. It's not easy to do if you have to eat out for lunch every day. Oh, and drink extra water that week too.

I haven't experienced this during my period but you just described me after a night of drinking (and by drinking I mean more than one glass of wine). I'm way stupider the next day and incredibly less coordinated. Must be the loss of brain cells.

All kinds of weird things happen when we're on our periods. Some months I'm crazy. Some months I'm angry. And some months I'm hungry - very, very hungry. Different symptoms every month. Doesn't sound too serious though!!

i just asked my boyfriend if he thought I was ditzy on my period, and with a completely straight face, he said "no, you're just mean." How do you respond to that?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

FWIW, I used to have these symptoms as well.  I haven't since I've been on BC.  Now that I'm doing seasonal periods, I see virtually no change in my 'period personality' whatsoever.

Before I went on the Pill, I used to drop stuff all the time during the few days before my period.  For the most part, that doesn't happen any more.  I also find that my already terrible memory is even worse, and the Pill didn't do anything to prevent that.

You think it's bad when you have your period - wait until your pregnant!! I make the DUMBEST mistakes all the time at work - I am always dropping things (and finding it harder and harder to bend over to pick them up haha) forgetting things, I have become a total spaz!!

I agree with Maven - PMS stuff gets worse as you get older. I've noticed this more in the past year or so (in my mid 30s). I think my PMS gets worse every month - I tend to get weepy and emotional, and then when I wake up in the a.m. on the day of my pd., I am in this amazingly good mood and I know it's the day. LOL.... It's weird (and no, Tom Cruise, I do not think vitamins will help).

I am not on BC, and I don't like to be. Even low doses make me zitty and fat. I must be a very hormonal person.

I haven't noticed any ditziness, but then again, I tend to be a little distracted anyway.
