Blender Uncut and sometimes Rolling Stone and Spin.
For fashion and shopping:
Lucky Shop, Etc LouLou(this is a Canadian version of Lucky)
I am not loving Shop,Etc, and will probably be giving up on it.
Recently I have been buying Jane because of the 2.99 cover price and it has been ok. I am feeling a little disenchanted with Lucky. But I will always love Blender. It is hilarious.
I often buy those cheap weeklies, Life&Style, InTouch, etc. Not all the time. But they are somewhat like eating sweets all day. You end up feeling a little empty.
Oh, and I buy the Economist regularily(not)
I buy Maxim sometimes for my SO and I read it. I laugh harder at the stuff in there then I have ever laughed at an article in Lucky! Though Jean Godfrey can be amusing. But, really, boys magazines are funnier.
And then I buy whatever catches my eye... sometimes Allure, or Mademoiselle, etc. It depends on who or what is on the cover. I used to be an In Style disciple but I tired of it. It was 6.99 or something ridiculous, and getting repetative. So there you go......whew, I think I may have a problem.
Subscribe: Better Homes and Gardens, Country Living, Oprah, Real Simple
Buy sometimes: In Style, US Weekly, Star, Lucky, Various home decorating mags, Glamour, Marie Claire, Cooking Light, just anything that appeals at the checkout.
ico- Blender is available in the US. It is put out by Maxim. I think maybe 10 issues a year. It is a great magazine for CD reviews. The articles are really good as well. My favorite part is called Back Catalogue, where they review an artist's total body of work, and rate them. Of course you are going to take the rating with a grain of salt.....this month's issue has them calling Blonde on Blonde not quite a classic cause it contaings too much filler.....
UNCUT is a big glossy magazine from the UK. I usually get it at stores that specialize in mags. The price is a little steep (ten dollars and change, CDN) but it comes with a CD!! Yay!! This month there are two choices, a disc of guitar solos selected by Jimmy Page or a collection of classic songs chosen by Robert Plant. Havent picked this one up, cant decide which one I want or maybe both.
happy reading, from a music geek. ps Read the photo captions in Blender.
i'm thinking of adding details, nylon, and the fader to the list. but sometimes i barely get to read the mags i subscribe to, so i'm not sure if i want to add more to the list.
I am in the midst of trying to cut down on mags. plus I am so sick of getting (for example) the may issue of Vogue in my mailbox only a week before the june issue hits the newsstand. I've also missed entire issues of magazines that never reached my mailbox-ever grhhh
Lucky, Cargo (for the boy), Domino, Shop Ect, House & Garden
Buy on a Regular Basis:
Elle, Glamour, ForMe and, unfortunately, I buy those weekly celeb-filled magazines a little too often (Us Weekly, InTouch, Life & Style), Lapidary Journal
Buy on a semi-regular basis:
Elle Decor, InStyle, Cosmo, Marie Claire, Cottage Living, Coastal Living, House Beautiful, Teen Vogue, ElleGirl,
It's disgusting, really. I have so many magazines laying around. I really need to go through them and throw a bunch away. I keep Lucky (have it from the first issue!). I used to read InStyle every month, but I haven't been too thrilled with it lately. Same with Marie Claire.
