more hair color dilemmas---I am at my wits end

Do you remember my long post about my hair color dilemma and getting my hair a red color?  I did get a whole lot of complements on my hair and ended up being pretty happy with it, but I still want the red I want.  Anyway, I went back to my same colorist to give her another chance.  I told her she did not get my hair as red as I wanted it 8 weeks ago, so I showed her the same picture and she said she would do it.  It was really hard to tell in the salon if it looked like the picture because of the low lighting.  When I got home, I held the picture up to the mirror beside my face in the bright lights of my bathroom, and my hair looked brown upside the pic.  I just took a deep breath and decided that I was going to have to go to someone else.  I didn't really examine it closely.  After getting out of the shower tonight, I looked at it very closely.  OH MY GOODNESS!!!  There are some places where it this reddish burgundy at the roots, but brown below.  It is a little splotchy.  I am upset.  When I calm down, I am going to go to her and ask her to fix it, but I don't think I can talk to her on the phone now without crying.  However, part of me just doesn't even want to deal with this.  Is a couple of shades of nice red in your hair with some highlights really that hard to achieve?  I am beginning to think I can do my hair as well as the colorists I have been to.  Have any of you had similar experiences?  I know you are all sick of me talking about this, but I just needed to vent.  Thanks for listeningdisbelief

Awww...sorry that your hair is still not how you want it. I would call the salon and ask for the manager and calmly explain your problem. He/She may offer a free fix or discounted fix and perhaps set you up with someone else who will do it for you.

I often feel like this.  I actually did my own highlight touchup for this very reason this weekend.

I'm sorry to hear that it came out splotchy.  Maybe you need to try another salon???

That sounds so frustrating. I would probably suck up the money at this point and go to a different colorist at a different salon. I would be afraid that all the coloring and fixes that you've been through the last few months would have damaged my hair. I'd want to go to somebody who not only knows what they are doing color-wise but also how to handle over worked hair.

Not sure where you live, but I'll bet a quick on-line search for colorist recommendations in your city will turn up somebody reputable. I'd call the salon and ask to speak to the new colorist before booking my appointment too, just to be sure she or he can do everything you need corrected.

Oh, how frustrating. You should go to my stylist. She isn't afraid of red at all and gets my hair really, really, really red. Almost too red before the first or second wash, but absolutely perfect afterward. And, um, it's never splotchy. Sorry you're having a rough time!
