What do you want to be when you "grow up"

It is a famous question. What do you want to be when you grow up? Are you in the career/field that you always dreamed about? or did you follow a different path? If you could change career fields right now, what field would you go into?

I always thought I would be a teacher or a journalist when growing up. Then in high school I went through a phase of wanting to work at a fashion magazine. I went to school for communications. Well, then somehow I got roped into the transportation field but I would gladly change fields in a heart beat. I would love to be in historic preservation or some sort of restoring our communities (mainstreet projects). I love old buildings and architecture, however being in FL all you see is new construction.

Well, in elementary school, I wanted to be a paleontologist, then in middle school & HS, an animator for Disney. College started out as wanting to write for a fashion magazine, then it went to wanting to be a men's stylist.

Am I doing any of those? Nope, lol....Currently I'm a church secretary and have been for the last 3 years!

I don't really know what I want to be when I "grow up." Within the next 5 years I would like to start freelancing to the point where it's a part-time job at least, but beyond that I don't know. I don't know if that's something I would want to do forever. I have a degree in Communications and a minor in English (and Latin, but that's kind of useless), and I do think I'll always be interesting in everything Communications entails, specifically writing.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Are you in the career/field that you always dreamed about? or did you follow a different path?

I remember wanting to be a veterinarian when I was five. I think I grew out of that pretty quickly.

I grew interested in journalism early on in HS and continued to write/edit for anything that would publish/pay me, then I became disgruntled in college. (This was before the internet, keep in mind! Today I would have just started a blog.)

Then I worked in a nonprofit arts agency for a while but became disgruntled with that, so I got a McJob in retail, and stayed in clothing until I eventually became a menswear buyer. I left that to work in advertising, switched to PR shortly thereafter, and now the journalism background makes sense since I earn a living mostly by writing.

If you could change career fields right now, what field would you go into?

I wouldn't want to. The next major change will be retirement!

Since age 6 I wanted to be a chef. Thats all I ever wanted. I did that for 10 years and finally got dismayed with the industry and now I'm a personal assistant. Its ok but its not exactly my dream job.

If you could change career fields right now, what field would you go into?

I'd love to either be a tv hostess for a pop culture show or work for a pop culture website.
