Wish me luck!!!

I *think* I may have a job as a Marketing Assistant!!!  I had a phone interview, took a bunch of marketing/advertising related tests, sent some writing samples and they called me to come in at 11 this morning and bring two forms of ID for paperwork.  So, we'll see.  It's in the fashion industry as well.  It would be the PERFECT job (even though it's a decent pay cut, but hey, my sanity is priceless and I could still survive on the salary).   So, wish me luck! I'll keep you posted!

Well, I'm not sure if I got that first job b/c it's through an empoyment agency.  They said they were going to contact the employee and recommend me for the position.

But, I had another interview today and it went really, really well. It was an informational interveiw, but they have some positions that might work for me and said that they would definitely be in touch.  It's a corporate office of major retailer and they said that I would really fit this program they have that brings people into an 'entry level' position (but it pays better than any entry level position I've seen!!) and they work their way up.  They have these positions in almost every department and they open frequently due to promotions.  This sounds perfect.

I also got another call for another interview today.  So, things are looking decent.

Good luck NylaBelle!!  I hope you get the job.

If you don't mind me asking, how'd you find a marketing asst. position in the fashion industry?  I'm an executive assistant for a bank right now, but I'm interested in taking my assistant skills to a company in the fashion industry.  Let me know how you did it.  TIA!

I looked on the company's website.  It's actually not just for a marketing assistant. I could potentially get into the e-commerce, merchandising or buying departments.  It just depends what they feel would be a better fit (my first choice is marketing).

They also said that they don't normally hire people in corporate that haven't worked at the store level (so I guess my retail hell experience wouldn't be in vain) and I'm assuming that lots of corporate retail offices require that (I know that all the companies I have worked at do.  Just something for you to consider (if you don't have retail experience, you might want to get some--not that it's a good time, but it's a necessary evil for alot of companies).

I would just target companies that you want to work at and go straight to their websites. Even if they don't have a position open, send in your resume and cover letter and you might get an informational interview (like I had) that ends in you getting a job. Good luck!!!
