I'm going to a white party tonight at an upscale restaurant/bar. The postcard says "all white attire required." Fine. I bought an adorable vintage-inspired white dress (strapless, a-line, empire waist, large rose lace fabric on the skirt of it, heavy white linen on the top part). I have a white milk glass-looking jewelry and a white bag.
So. Must my shoes be white?
I have pair of white peep toes and I like the vintage-y styling of them with the dress but I feel all matchy-matchy wearing white shoes. I was thinking of wearing silver strappy wedges, but I don't think the style works as well with the dress. But it's less matchy-matchy. But it's a white party, so I guess matchy-matchy is okay.
KinCali, no it's not a costume party. It's just an event where the theme is white and you're supposed to wear white. There will be white decorations, signature white cocktails, etc. It's a pretty nice venue, so I don't think it will be cheesy.
Thanks, tri_sarah_tops. That's what I was kind of thinking.

I think you could do either. I think silver is close enough that you would be fine and I imagine a lot of women will be wearing silver because not many own white shoes. If you do want to wear your white ones I wouldn't worry about being matchy-matchy since the theme is white. Have fun!

I say wear whatever shoes you feel goes best with the over all look. From what you described, I'm seeing a kind of summery, lawn party 1920's sort of look. It sounds pretty. I'd love to see a photo of it if you want to post one in threadstyle.
I"m sure silver would be fine, I personally don't like matchy matchy as well. So, id go for metallic, rather then a contrast color, especially when you were invited to a white party ( how fab!!!, post pics!). However, it the shoe doesn't fit in shape/design to the dress....you'd like to stay away from foe pas... ( pardon my bad French spelling)
