As you may recall, my last company was bought out and I was told 3 days after the fact that I lost my job but would continue working on a contractor basis with the new job for 5 weeks or more if they decided to keep me. Since that point, they basically cut off communication, I would email them work without feedback - they certainly had no interest in my skills.
This gave me time to interview with a company that publishes legal information to assist law firms. I was Pre-Law in college and have been studying for LSATs, am thinking of going to law school. I had 5 interviews and the whole process was grueling, and was really annoying considering the recruiter told me it was "temp to perm" - as they hire most everyone on a temporary basis before they make them an offer.
Well, they made me an offer for a permanent position! I started this Monday and my week has been great. I took a bit of a pay cut BUT am getting 2 additional weeks of vacation which sort of evens things out. I also get better benefits, and they start right away along with my 401K, etc. My commute is faster as well. I didn't want to say anything to jinx it but I am so happy that this worked out :D
