Macbook - Virus/Spyware question
Permalink Closed

The other day I was browsing imdb.com and the next minute, I was on some website that flashed a pop-up message saying my computer was infected with viruses/spyware. I have no idea how I got there - I don't think I inadvertently clicked on an ad or anything. It was so bizarre; it's never happened before - has this happened to any Mac users or should I be concerned?

ETA: I was using firefox when browsing imdb.

You probably don't have to be concerned - sounds like a popup ad.

There are free scans available at http://housecall.trendmicro.com if you want peace of mind.

Also, the jerks who make viruses and spyware almost never make them for Macs. That is why you don't need to install virus software on your MacBook. HTH!

Yea there are alot of fake pop up ads that say "WARNING YOU ARE INFECTED, CLICK HERE TO GET RID OF VIRUS" then you start downloading some fisher bullshit that ruins your comp.

Just ignore!
