I don't post a lot on here, but love reading about everyones styles. I am in need of a new handbag and I am turning to you style experts for help.
I don't usually spend a lot on handbags, but I have been very upset with how easy it is to wear one out. The bottoms look torn, handles frayed... and I don't think I'm that hard on them. So, I'm ready to take the plunge and pay some for a nice handbag. If possible, nothing over $300 (I know - still not that expensive), but I could go a little higher if I fall in love.
I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I absolutely love this bag below except for a few minor details. FYI - its a Brahmin Selma
Love: - Shape - it is about as tall as it is long so it doesn't look like a long skinny thing. It also holds its shape and won't look frumpy - Handles - not too skinny and perfect to put on my arm. Love this style since I usually do the over the sholder totes. - Not too big, but large enough for all my crap. - Quality - it even smells great - I don't think this classic shape will ever go out of style
Not crazy about - Gold details - Black croc - but it is pretty. I think I'd prefer just leather or something similar - Might be a hair too small for me... again - I'm trying to find something I can live with for awhile, so if I'm used to a larger handbag.... this might be too small for me.
I think my problem is that I have an exact picture in my head and I can't seem to find it. I would love to see if anyone has some suggestions! Again - I'm new to nice handbags so I don't even know where to start on brands.
- I'd be ok with anything that goes w/ black or is black. I seem to wear much more black than brown.
- I'd prefer leather over croc.
- And I want a satchel that does not have straps long enought to fit over my shoulder... I'll just be carrying it. I like the handle size on the one that I posted.
Sorry for being so picky and thank you for attempting to help!
That is pretty! And it has lots of other colors to choose from if I wanted something besides black... My only hesitation is the price. I assume you get what you pay for? We do have a Coach store, so I'll have to go play with this.
I'd try a Furla bag. Bluefly has a lot. I bought a very classic one from Filene's Basement a few years ago. Their leather is very nice, great lines, and not busy.

Smartbargains usually has some pretty good deals, but you have to check frequently and buy fast. This isn't much like your dream bag but it has small handles plus a removable shoulder strap - personally I like to have my hands free so the hand-held thing does not work for me, at least not for an everyday bag.
This one's $250, about $300 off the original price. The one below reminds me more of yours. (I can't get the black photo to post.) These handles are ideal to me because they can be carried by hand, in the elbow, or over the shoulder. It's $180 marked down from $350.

I own this handbag which is part of the Coach Madison collection, similar to the one posted above. I have to say that for the price, it is well worth it. While I had a 25% coupon, I would have paid full price looking back. I've had this bag since December and use it almost everyday. Very high quality. I would highly recommend this collection based on the one I have. Hope that helps.

What she said. They are very well made (I had mine for 10 years) and very chic.
I didn't really see any Furla bags I was in love with on bluefly. I did look around on there and it turns out I really love all the ones that are about $900+ which is NOT in my price range!
Thanks LoMish for your input on the Coach bags. I like the one you posted too. I'm going to hit the Coach store sometime soon and start there.
