Ok... is anyone else excited about seeing Star Wars on Thursday? I love Star Wars and I can't wait to see this one! Its supposed to be really well done.
I confess! I like Star Wars, too. But I like the original trilogy. The new ones look pretty, but at times I felt myself feeling vicariously embarassed for the actors as they said some of the dreadful dialogue. That, and they lack Han Solo. I've read that this one is supposed to be really good, so I'm hoping my information is reliable.
Yep! I'm a dork, too! We have tickets for Thursday night. It's going to be crazy. I'd totally wear my hair in Princess L braid buns if I knew how. (Okay, and if I wasn't too ashamed.)
Everytime I see a preview I get soooo excited!!! I can't wait!
my brother and i (both really big dorks) were just discussing our plans to see the movie. the original movies were such an huge part of our childhood that we are both really sad that this is the last one. we were reminiscing about seeing the original at the drive-in theatre with our parents! we're still holding out hope that the last 3 episodes (7, 8 & 9) that were part of the original plan will still be made one day.
i don't think i'll be able to catch the movie until the weekend, but i feel like i'm going to burst everytime i see a preview for it.
i'm started thinking that i want to make a jedi costume for my son (he's only 2) for halloween this year. i'm sorry... that's WAY too much dorkiness, isn't it?
I'm not necessarily excited, but I do want to see it! Unfortunately, since I do work at a movie theatre (only for 2 more weeks though...thank god!), I'll be working opening weekend of the movie, which I'm soooo NOT looking forward to. I don't mind being a little busy at work, but slammed busy I can't stand, especially with the general public, and that's what this is going to be.
But, those of you who are excited, you're not nerds! We all have our things that make us jump up and down with excitement, this just happens to be one of yours!
P.S. Any of you having midnight shows tomorrow night at your local theatres? Ours is and I was just curious how the rest of the country was doing things....
My husband is a HUGE fan (He even has a Boba Fett tattoos. I married a geek.) and we already bought tickets for the Wednesday night/Thursday 12:01 am showing. I think we're gonna have to be there by like 10:30 to get decent seats.
I heard that some of the scenes with Padme and Anakin are just painful. Like forced, corny, and just really, really bad. Should be interesting. But I can't imagine it being any worse than that freakin kid who played Anakin in Episode I. He was horrid and I think that casting pretty much ruined the movie.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie and it will be awesome to finally get to put the whole story together.
I am not a HUGE fan - well, not on the scale of popping a tent for a month outside of the theatre like some people, but I loved this review & it got me excited about it. It's long, but man, this guy loves his Star Wars. Got me a little misty eyed!
I have tickets for Saturday afternoon! Star Wars was a big part of my childhood too, and I remember my Dad having to read me and my brother the Jaba the Hut subtitles in the theater because we couldn't read them fast enough ourselves. Sniff.
I am pretty geeked about it. My brother is a huge Star Wars nerd (you couldn't tell by looking at him), so we are going together. He is out of town on business, so I have to wait a week or so to watch it. I am going to be sad that I am going to miss all the geeks dressed up in their costumes.

Holy crap. I just found out we're getting 5 prints of it at our theatre (it's a 12-plex)
We knew we were getting 3 for sure, which isn't unusual since we had that many of the other ones. We knew possibly 4, because of a confusing email, and there was only the slight rumor of 5.
But geez, we ARE getting 5. I seriously didn't think we'd ever have that many of any movie, at once. The most we've ever gotten of any movie was 3 prints, well, except for Shrek 2, which got 4 (there was NO need for that many of that movie).
Wow. I might be crying after the weekend is over....
The original trilogy left such a huge impression on me as a kid that I could never get into the new series. Personally, I love that the original Yoda was a Jim Henson creation and not a computer effect. None of the actors in the knew one have any appeal to me at all. I personally wish George Lucas would have left it alone after Jedi. It also seems like such a major marketing tie-in, character licensing scheme-more so than it was in the 80's. -sorry for my scroogey attitude
CarrieS-All the multiplexes in my hood (west. Mass.) have five screens devoted to the "sith" and all the theatres big+small had midnight shows last night.
My friends and I went to the midnight showing last night. I'm not a huge star wars fan, but I thought his movie was better than the first two episodes. It was awesome! Plus I was ready to follow Anakin to the dark side- he's freakin' hot!
