does anyone have any experience with silkscreening or fabric painting or stamping on fabric? I got an awesome book and a few ideas, but I have never done any of these. General impressions? I don't know what I want from my fellow ST-ers, but felt like I needed to post.
We did silk-screening in eighth grade Woodshop, but um, that was a long time ago. I do remember that it wasn't terribly messy and relatively easy. I ended up with a picture of purple grapes on a white t-shirt. There was limited options, obviously, in the class.
I think that the hardest part would be picking what you want. The actual process is relatively simple, if I remember correctly. Just basically rolling ink onto fabric.

You can buy silk screening kits at craft stores. I've always wanted to do it but never bought one.
I like to do batik, its really fun and its freestyle so you can do whatever. You paint with melted wax on fabric, then dye it and iron the melted wax off after.
You can dip dye it one color or brush on the dye in patterns. Its cheap and easy to do.
I think craft stores also sell the right wax (its a mix of parrafin and beeswax IIRC) and a little tool for drawing with it.
Batik sounds fun and a great way to start working my way up to screenprinting, etc. I forget about batik and get all caught up with other techniques. THanks
