Color Combos- Updated with IRL pics
Permalink Closed

I have a really pretty corduroy pencil skirt that I love. But its the J Crew Bright Rhubarb color that I always have trouble with.

I wore it today with a black polo but I'd really like to try branching out and mixing other colors that black and white without looking like a crazy cat lady.

The skirt is a pinky-red like cherry popsicles. I had pants too but they were much much brighter, the skirt is corduroy and more muted/darker/redder. I'll try to post IRL pic asap.

What color combos can I wear with it? If I stick to black/white/grey can I play with more colors in my acessories?

Here's a few things I've been trying. My bathroom lighting doesn't show true colors very well.

the cardigan is a turquoise/ocean blue. Is it too 4th of July?

I like it with the white top and orange necklace. What color shoes? (I really need a new white top BTW, I don't wear this one obviously, its too small)

I like this navy top with navy shoes lot (needs ironing oops!). This is what the true color of the skirt looks like.

I have a skirt in a similar color and it looks good with pale blue & greys

I think any muted pastel would work.  Think beige, mint, pale blue, melon, pale yellow.

Is the skirt too bright to work with patterns? Something with a small stripe, maybe? Or a floral?

Indeed, you can wear it with pale pastels ( pale yellow, blue, peach, cream, taupe), multicolor prints, as well as navy, medium-dark grey & ivory.

Could navy work with it? Maybe a cardi?

I'm thinking chocolate brown would be nice with it. I also like the idea of navy.

I would try navy or khaki first.

I'd wear nude pumps with the white top and orange necklace outfit. Let the skirt be the focal point.

I like the first outfit. The colors are more summery to me than 4th of July. I think the turquoise goes great with the coral. And the white shirt breaks the colors up nicely.

I think I would like the last one more if it was tucked in (you have such a great long torso already!) Maybe add an interesting belt, like a skinny gold one?

YOu have a killer body!
I think the shoes will depen on the top: either black, or navy ( that's a rare color for shoes:), also light brown leather/nude patent, can be cream as well...
P.S. I can't see orange necklace from such distance & on such a small pic, but it doesn't really work in my mind...
