I have been there and pensacola and I would go to pensacola. First of all the beaches in Padre suck. That seems harsh but there are a ton of jelly fish that are always dead, washed up on the beach. The town is pretty dirty and just not very pretty. Padre is mainly a SB place so the rest of the year is very low key and boring. It sounds like you are going for the beach and Pensacola has the nicer beach so I would go there. However, Padre does have some nice all inclusiver resorts if that is what you are looking for. Basically if you want to go sit on a nice sandy beach and look at the water, or even go in the water then I wouldn't go to Padre. I had a lot of fun when I went to pensacola. HTH - feel free to PM or ask more questions.

if you are looking for great beaches, i would consider Destin, FL. my family has a place there and the beaches are white, beautiful (voted top ten U.S. beaches). it's on the gulf side of FL.

Padre's beach is pretty BLEH... It might be a happening place to go during Spring Break but it was pretty dead when we went... (either Memorial or Labor day weekend.. I can't remember which it was) And there's pretty much nothing to do there either.
I love destin also but its gotten really popular and expensive so you have to shop around for hotels and stuff. Pensacola is nice but they were hit pretty badly with hurricanes last year and are still trying to rebuild. Destin is up and running though. Never been to south padre.
well we decided on pensacola, thanks for your advice, girls! i really took into consideration! im excited we leave friday morning for a mini-get away just to relax and celebrate before we start school again on June 1st.
