running into people who i wasn't friends with in h.s at the gym.  a bunch of people from the surrounding states move to chicago after college.  so there i am, beet red after a 5 mile run and this girl who i went to h.s with comes over and acts like just cuz we ended up in the same city, we will be friends now when we weren't in h.s.

i'm not trying to be like, i'm too cool for you, but when i'm exhausted from a workout, i don't want to "catch up" with someone that i wasn't even friends with.  sorry, that happened to me recently and i'm scared to go to that location after 5 pm anymore cuz i don't want to have fake chitchat.

1.  That the "girl" free weights are by all the serious men's weight equipment.  I always feel like I am in someone's way with my 5 pound weights, but you gotta start somewhere!  Also, this gives guys the opportunity to stare.

2.  People that want to have a whole conversation with me when they are on a machine next to me.  It always seems to be an older woman.  I'm sorry, but I do not want to talk about your kid's baseball team, your job, my job, your dogs, television shows, etc., but of course I WILL talk about all those things so I am not rude (go figure).

3.  People who give me dirty looks if I am switching off on machines and doing one set of legs, one set of arms and alternating.  If you want to use the machine I am not currently on, go right ahead.  I will just go back to do the rest of my sets on that machine later.  Don't assume that I am tying up both machines.  People will actually look at the empty machine, give me a dirty look, and walk away.

4.  All the random overly-tanned, short shorts wearing people who work at the gym whose only job function seems to be walking around and chatting with each other and if you ask for something like a class schedule they are like, "what's that?" and kind of shrug and go back to chatting with each other.

5.  When someone is working with a trainer and the trainer wants them to go on the machine that I am already on and the trainer just hovers around the machine staring and waiting.  I just feel so uncomfortable I give up the machine even though I'm not done.

This is a pet peeve of mine in general.  Sometimes I will go to ridiculous lengths trying to act like I don't see someone.

Ugh!  This is so annoying!  I hate this in general.  This happens a lot in bathrooms and waiting rooms to me.
