For some reason I have fallen in love with this fabric.

Do you think it would look cute if I were to make a sheath dress out of it like this?

Or is it dowdy and I just have fabric sale goggles on?

Great idea!
I'd love that pattern on a nice full swing skirt also.

Thanks everyone.  I feel much better.  Would you prefer the fabric on a straight sheath dress like the one I have pictured in the first post, or one with a full skirt like this (View B)

OR this (View B or D)

I saw something similar this spring (I think it was at H&M) and loved it. It was a straight sheath, which I think made the dress look younger and more modern. I'm not feeling it in the full skirt.

IMO the sheath updates it and makes it modern. As a full skirt it'd be nice, but also very 50's housewife. Which is cute but maybe too costumey.

I think it will look great if you made it into a sheath dress. Please post pics after you make it.

Ditto. The fabric already has a vintage feel, so I wouldn't go too literal.

Thanks so much everyone. I am doing a straight skirt sheath and I will post pics. It may be about a month because I have a couple of other things on the sewing table right now.

WOW! Love that fabric (love my floral prints), and it'll look GREAT as a sheath dress. Pls. DO post pics after it's completed, would LOVE to see it. :)

I propose a skirt ( not a dress), a bit above knees length ( according to hat flatters you most) full skirt if the fabric has great "fall" as it seems on the pic.
You'll be able to wear it with more options for different looks, depending on the top, which might take you from day to night. This floral sheath is great on the red carpet, very sexy, it has to fit to the dot , but how many times will you wear that as opposed to the amount of work invested?

Bloomie- I did see a similar dress in H&M. I was there this weekend and saw it again. They added a belt, which might be an option for you too.
