When I bought my shower filter, a couple people asked me to review it. I've been using it for two weeks, and figured I'd check in with my impressions.
I've been using it for about two weeks now. I do think I notice a change in my skin already - it's softer and less dry (although I didn't have bad "dry skin" to begin with, I do notice a difference). And if anything, I've been slacking even more on my skincare routine than I used to, so I'm sure it's the filter. I don't know what kind of effect it's had on my hair - it obviously hasn't been long enough to see if it extends the amount of time I can go between getting it dyed. And any hair condition changes I think are more a product of my giving up shampoo (I talked about that in another thread) than this filter. I guess for this review it wasn't very helpful for me to start giving up shampoo about the same time, but I didn't want to wait on the Curly Girl routine
Now the actual filter itself: first of all, it's kind of an eyesore. It's not a big deal to me, but it's definitely not a pretty addition to the shower. It also moved the actual flow of water more towards the back of my shower, which isn't a problem for me (actually I like that because it keeps me from getting those stupid puddles on the floor by the front of the shower) but it's just something to keep in mind. The worst thing is that sometimes there are problems with the water pressure. I can't find any rhyme, reason, or pattern to this. But sometimes I will turn on the shower and the pressure is fine, and sometimes it's so slow/light that it's unusable. When that happens I turn the shower on/off several times and finally, one time, it comes on fine, but I can't figure out which factors decide whether the pressure will be good or not. It gets pretty annoying, but not enough for me to stop using it.
I also really like that it has a "massage" feature. It's not as hard or as massage-y as most other massage showerheads, but it's a more concentrated flow and I like to use it to give myself a scalp massage in the morning :)
I bought mine from drugstore.com. Here is the link:
It's also encouraging that most of the reviews at that link are 5 stars.
I guess let me know if you have any other questions that I could answer this early in the game....I'll be on vacation for a week starting tomorrow, so if it takes me a while to get back to you, I'm not ignoring
