I've got to give a HUGE rave to FedEx. Whenever I've ordered anything online in the last 6 months I've only done standard shipping, so 5-7 days for delivery time. Every one of these times when I've gone to check the tracking, it has always said 2 day delivery as my shipping type, meaning that somewhere, my shipping was "upgraded" so I get it faster.
I think a lot of this is probably the company's I'm ordering from, but dang!, I'm super-impressed with them for making the deliver faster than anticipated!
Ugh! I find FedEx to be completely frustrating. They have been trying to deliver a package that apparantly requires a signature. Problem is they keep coming at 11am. Really, who in the world is home at 11am except grandma and grandpa? So, if we miss them a third time we have to drive half an hour away (that's an hour wasted round trip!) to get a package that was supposed to take a day to get. At least with UPS and USPS they have locations everywhere so even if you have to pick up a package it's convenient.
I just had a long winded conversation with someone today about this so it's funny you made the FedEx reference.
I have been alternately completely impressed by FedEx and completely frustrated beyond all reason.
first story:
i send something overnight via FedEx for my friend's birthday. They try to deliver it to her, at some completely inconvenient time, she's not there, and tell her she's supposed to pick it up. of course she's a busy girl and doesn't have time to drive an hour (during business hours no less) so they end up sending it back to me. i ended up just giving it to her when i saw her, but there was a complete waste of $15 or whatever the fee wa.
second story:
actually, i should call it a series of positive experiences. whenever i have ordered online and fedex is the deliverer, i've gotten my package super quickly because my leasing office signs for packages and then puts them in my apt. (btw, I LOVE the feeling of coming home to find packages.)
so i guess the moral is FedEx gets to where they're going quickly but if you/your agent isn't there to recieve them, good luck getting the package!
You girls do have good points; people/companies can't be great ALL the time; they have good and bad points.
I haven't any of the problems (for awhile anyways) you guys have, but I always have stuff delivered to my work, so somebody is always available to sign.
*Gets a brain flash from the past*Actually, now that I think about it, I think I did used to have problems with this when I'd have stuff sent to my house; I was never home because of work (a job with weird opening hours, hence not having stuff delivered there) , so I'd always find the little slip stuck to my door, pissed me off like no other too, because the slip of paper would always mention the next delivery try time at a time when I would once again, not be at home.
Since having it delivered to work (a "normal" job, 8am-5pm) I haven't had any problems receiving. It makes my work day exciting when I get something, like getting a present!
