you are definitely not the only person not feeling this look. 3 weeks ago I returned from studying in Spain for 6 months and prayed that these pants would not make its way to the US. It appears they have! This is what we referred to as the reincarnation of the MC Hammer pants. Everyone was wearing them in Europe but I hope this is one trend that does not catch on!
wow alikat - so people in Europe are wearing them! It's one of those runway type looks that always seem like they won't REALLY make it into the mainstream... They also described them as "versatile" and "flattering". I guess they are...comfortable??
EGH i see them in NYC every now and then. Sometimes a REALLY chic girl with a great body, great heels and accessories can pull it off but I just will never understand it.
People in Argentina were wearing these pants religiously back in 2007 when I was living there - We too referred to them as MC hammer pants. Some were more extreme than others. It does seem that Argentina is ahead of the fashion curve! Personally, I could never sport these pants.
Just yesterday I passed by maxstudio window - it was on display, even there doesn't look...too hot....however would be a number on the runway with high heels & a tall skinny girl. But....they had BEAUTIFUL dresses on the same display! THe whole collection is airy, flowers & butterflies, light breezy colors - the rest was a dream! ( I was with the stroller, other errands & lack of budget, so didn't go inside the store)

P.S. Actually I think that the problem is in the color, too light, brings other associations...( of diapers:)), however, if it'd be in black/navy/dk. olive green - it'd look much better. Of course, the rest of the ensemble needs to be hip, accessories fierce, heels high & the body tall & fit...
Kelly Ripa was wearing these pants today. Her's were black and the saggy part wasn't as dramatic as the picture posted here. It actually didn't look awful and I don't care for the look. She managed to pull it off though.

she is super tiny and thin, and I think that's why it works. I think they would tend to make someone with curves look larger, but then again, the draping may be slimming... I don't know -- I haven't tried any on (yet!) I could potentially see myself wearing a pair with a tank and sandals...
