So, I'm having a hard time storing my jewelry. I have a small travel jewelry box that holds all of my fine jewelry alright, with exception to my 2 pearl strands. But, I caould use a nicer, more permanent jewelry box for these items. However, I have a ton of "fun" jewelry that isn't expensive, but still has it's place. I have a hard time storing it, because some necklaces are the multistrand variety that basically have to lay flat, and there is just so much of it.
How do you store you jewelry, in a space conscious way, without having to spend hour untangling a tanizinite pendant from a hippie ankle bracelet (not that I did this recently...)?
It took me forever to figure out how to do this - but i ended up buying some of those clear divided plastic containers used to store beads - i got them at the craft store. each compartment is perfect for one necklace, pair of earrings, etc, and also since the top is clear you can look right through it to see what you want! because it's made to hold beads, you can drop it as much as you want and everything still stays in its own compartment (i drop it all the time)
Ok, the way i store my fun jewelry (which is almost all of it, anyways) is very ghetto! I buy cheap picture frames and stick on plastic hooks to hang each item on. It actually works really well, and surprisingly, i have had a couple people say they liked it. For earrings, my friend's boyfriend removes the backing from cheap picture frames and puts in screening. I don't know exactly how he does it, but it does work best with frames that have partitions in it so the screening doesn't get weighed down. I also store rings and miscellaneous items in the boxes that my watches come in (I have about 5 or 6 of them because I have a thing for watches).
i am going to share my super martha stewart necklace storage system. i posted it before, but i finally actually made one a few weeks ago, and i love it!
buy one of those glass storage canisters for spaghetti at the container store--make sure to get the one with the CORK top. buy a package of small brass cup-hooks at hardware store and screw them into the underside of the cork top. your necklaces hang on the hooks inside of the glass jar, look pretty, and stay dust and tangle-free. voila!
