That's a hard situation. My husband has a 20 year old son, and he asks Josh to let him know if he'll be late or not home, or if he's leaving town, a general idea of where he's going and when he'll be back, just so he won't worry about him. I think it's okay to let a parent know for courtesy, so they won't worry, but past 18, parents shouldn't be telling you what to do even if they do support you. I don't think financial support through college should have strings attached.
