I've switched birth control a couple of times in the past few months and as a result my skin has totally freaked out on me. I've always been acne prone but I haven't had a breakout like this in at least 10 years and it sucks. (I've been wearing my glasses to hide a huge one right between my eyes!) I've been using Neutrogena SKin ID which has been really effective for me but doesn't seem to be doing anything for this current breakout. I'm going on vacation on Friday and I'd really like to be mostly clear by then. Any suggestions?
I think by Fri it should clear up. Here are my go-to's when I have a breakout.
This can help w texture and bring everything "out" This is a spot treatment, can def shrink things and get the redness out (has benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid)
I use the DDF tea tree oil treatment. I think the 5% is the one I have and it does a pretty darn good job at drying things up and out. You might want to check into it as well while you are at Sephora.
Aspirin masks (if you go easy scrubbing them off, you can do one every other day)! And plain rubbing alcohol once a day as a toner after cleansing if your skin isn't too terribly dry. It's been enough to get me relatively cleared up within 3 or 4 days, which is more than I can say for any store bought treatment alone. I usually follow the cleanse/aspirin mask/alcohol routine with a SA treatment and then a BP treatment for the 'on' nights, and just do a cleanse/SA treatment on the 'off' nights.

Plain white toothpaste sometimes helps. Dab it on and let it dry before you fall asleep so it doesn't rub off on your pillowcase. It stings a bit but in the morning you should notice it's a lot smaller.
I highly recommend the M.D.Formulations Daily Peel Pads. They are AMAZING for clearing up skin immediately. I use them for hormonal breakouts, stress pimples, and even body acne. They are a dual sided pad; one side is smooth and the other is exfoliating. They are essentially a glycolic compound, made of mainly glycolic acid and they are pretty strong so only use in the broken out areas. It only takes about three or four days of using for my skin to clear up.
