ouch! it was worse than i was expecting, but it feels so amazing i definitely want to do it again. (really it only hurt on that area right near the clit, but hurt SO bad)
the esthetician doing my wax told me next time to take an antacid (as well as an ibuprofen) before. the antacid prevents redness. (and that's for anywhere you get waxed, not just bikini area)
i've heard they make numbing creams too now... i haven't been waxed in a while due to my desire to pay off debt, but once i go back again i'm gonna try the numbing cream. i think it also depends on the waxer tho cuz i've had some that didn't hurt too bad and others that i actually yelled!!

I'm sooo glad you posted this! One of my friends always said that if she took a zantac before drinking she wouldn't get red. I passed the info on to another friend who gets red when she drinks wine. Long story short, she took one and it worked! I'm just glad someone else says this, too, (the antacid = no red) because she totally thought it was a fluke. Ha! I already called her and told her one of my "friend's" esthetician said...
btw, how long is it supposed to last? I've never waxed (always been a slave to the razor) but I'm starting to lose motivation and am thinking waxing is the way to go. And does it gross in between waxings?

waxing is great, yes u have to let ur hair grow between waxings but hair grows in cycles so u only have sparse hairs here & there growing in, not like shaving where u hava whole forrest at once! even during the summer i didn't really have any trouble cuz unless u get right up to my legs u can't really tell the hair is growing in (and my hair is DARK!).

Cool! But what if someone is TOUCHING the spots you've waxed? Can they tell b/w waxes?
the lady who waxed (and has been waxing 35 years) told me that it depends on the person for how long it lasts. i have a ton of very coarse hair, and she said as soon as it seems like enough to get waxed again, do it (because it will hurt a lot less)! i think most people is about 4-6 weeks.
i'm looking forward to seeing how it grows out, because i think it will be a lot finer and smoother.
ps she used a numbing cream on me and i didn't really think it helped much, but she put it on only a few minutes before waxing. i would recommend buying the cream if the salon sells it and putting it on maybe 20 minutes before you go to get waxed.
Is there a greater risk of getting ingrown hairs with waxing as opposed to shaving? I've always used my razor too but I'm getting lazy about it and waxing's beginning to look appealing...
The area that you said hurt the most is the same for all of us sweetie, but it is soooo worth it. I would also suggest using Tend Skin everyday to prevent ingrown hairs when you wax and moisturize the area really well too because if the area is not moisturized the dry skin will come off with the wax and cause more pain. You also want to wipe your whole area down with baby wipes right before you wax to get any creams or lotions off you because they will stick to the wax and make it harder for the hair to come out.
I am on my 3rd aesthetician and she taught me all of these tricks. The pain that I have when I get waxed now is about 75% less than the pain I had before going to her. HTH!!
