GHD Straightener
Permalink Closed

So, I already pulled the trigger on this, but need validation.

I am getting a new GHD for $150 (I have a friend who is a stylist, so she can buy wholesale). It's more than I wanted to pay, but I expect it will be worth it. I've used the GHD and really like it, and I need a high quality one because I straighten my hair almost every day.

The problem is, this is the third one I've bought this year. I blew up my trusty Rusk (a totally underrated brand, btw) in an international outlet, replaced it with a straightener that won't work in the U.S. but is awesome, and then when I came back to the U.S. bought an FHI that I didn't like because it didn't have temperature control. All in all, I've spent over $400 on straighteners this year (although I do now have all my voltage bases covered -- ha ha).

I read everyone's reviews about the Sedu and Solia (I didn't want a Chi) and considered those, but ultimately decided the GHD is probably still a smidge better and worth an extra $50. Oh, and I did recoup $40 by selling my FHI.

So, did I do the right thing?!?

yes! i had a chi turbo before, but it's not comparable to the GHD. i love it. all of my friends who have tried it love it as well. plus, if you got the same edition i have, it works in all voltages AND has automatic shutoff! it's the only straightener i know that has that!

you will love it!

Yes! I bought mine a month ago and I LOVE it. My hair never previously held any sort of style for more than a couple hours and with the GHD it stays styled all day long, even in the humid Florida weather. I would buy another one tomorrow if I had to, and I paid $250 for mine.

Whew! Thanks to you both. I'm feeling pretty good about the decision. Can't wait to try it out. I might have to post some thread styles to celebrate (okay, I am lame). But I've been w/o a straightener for almost a week now, and it's been awful.
