yup! I bought a ton of shoes during the fall/winter season. I'm in desperate need of good cute shoes, but for some reason, none of the really catch my eye..
Yes! This month alone I've bought about 6 pairs of shoes. I think I have a shoe fetish. But I told myself I really needed them to justify my purchases.
lynnie, I'm really jealous you have those Mayle wedges. I them! And those space boots are awesome! I'm glad you kept them.
Lynnie...I want to share your shoes, especially the Mayles and the spaceboots!
I totally feel your pain...my shoe purchases as of late (the past month) have been rather insane, especially for me. Yes, I too needed every pair, and I still need to buy more shoes because these are all either pink or natural.
Yes, I am addicted. At one time I owned about 400 pair of shoes...
I now own about half that number (I'd like to say I'm getting so much better and buying less shoes, but in reality, I'm just better about getting rid of the ones I never wear).
In the last month, I've purchased about 10 pair of shoes (but at least five of the pairs were under $20 (great deals), so I am able to rationalize it). We won't talk about the pair of Kate Spade or the pair I got from Anthro....
I buy at least 3 pairs of shoes a month. It is turning into a real problem, because I ran out of closet space so now the are stacked in thier boxes in the corner of my bed room. I also needed every last pair of them.

As alot of you know, I just moved... and yesterday I just finished organizing my shoes. I actually couldn't believe after throwing away/donating/or selling 18 30-gallon garbage of clothes and shoes that I still had over 50 pairs of shoes. I actually said words that I never thought I would say... I said to myself, "I need to stop buying shoes."
I thought I was bad! I've only purchased 3 pairs of shoes this month.
My friend was just harassing me this weekend about how I'd rather have new shoes than a new tv, new couch, nicer apartment, etc. It really bugged me but I don't see why I should buy really great practical things when I have pretty okay practical things (which I love) and I can keep buying shoes, something I very much enjoy. I mean, I COULD be debt-free and have really nice furniture, etc., but at what cost? No more shoes? The price is just oo much.
I have purchased 9 pairs in the last two months. That is bad. But I needed them.
It does bother me that I don't blink an eye about spending $80 on a pair of shoes I will wear with only one outfit, yet I freak out over spending $80 on a blouse or sweater that I would probably wear more. Isn't that silly? I am really wanting to start shopping from anthro, but I have trouble getting past their prices. So, what I have started asking myself is "Now, if that blouse were a pair of shoes...?" It helps a little with my perspective. I hope to spend less on shoes this fall/winter and more on anthro.
Oh my, shoes and bags are my weakness! I'm a lot better now about buying quality over quantity. I would rather have one great pair of $200 shoes than 4 pairs of $50 shoes that are trying to be the $200 pair but just don't compare. The way I rationalize I'm actually saving room in my closet by doing this. I know, I'm nuts. Still, there are times I can't resist a cute, cheap pair of shoes.
I'm afraid to count how many pairs I own, but I'm way overdue for spring closet cleaning so I'll find out next week. If I had to guess I'd say between 75-100. And last bag count was 28.... so not too bad.
By the way, this is off-topic but I just remembered one time my ex was talking to someone about women's love of shoes and bags. "I don't get the shoe thing, but the bag thing.... it's because women are container-oriented. They want to gather things and carry them around". LOL!! I thought that was the most clueless yet hilarious comment I'd ever heard in my life!

Oh, my God. That's hilarious!
I also am very drawn to shoes, but I wouldn't call it an obsession. My shoe choices are somewhat limited (I'm 5'9", so I try to stick to kitten heels), so there is a whole world of stilletos that doesn't even apply to me. Also, I walk a lot and very easily ruin shoes, so I try to not spend too much money on them. I used to buy more expensive shoes, but then I would feel guilty wearing them down. So I wouldn't wear them at all, and they would just sit in my closet. Now, I'll buy something cheaper, but I actually use it.
Blubirde, I totally relate to what your friend said to you!
A few weeks ago I was watching that episode of SATC where Carrie needs to buy her apt. and she doesn't have the money, and it actually made me feel guilty! I vowed then and there to not sacrifice financial stability for shoes. It's been tough, but I'm making progress. This month I have only bought one pair of shoes - a pair of flat leather sandals for summer that were totally cheap. Yay! I think the key for me breaking my addiction was realizing that if anything catastrophic happened to me, I'd have to depend on others for money b/c I spend all my "savings" on shoes!

I've bought tons of shoes lately, but mostly b/c I felt like i didn't have enough, so i rationalized it. here is a rundown of what i've bought in the last 2 months:
but in a slingback style in pink.
I really did need more shoes, though! and everything was on sale or discounted.
yes, but I really do "need" them all becasue until about a year ago I couldn't care less about shoes and wore some of the ugliest things on the planet. So I threw pretty much all of them out and am starting from scratch with good shoes. (or, I just needed an excuse...)
Absolutely relate to everything all of you said, shoes are my #1 weakness. If you are having a fat shopping day, can't find clothes that look right or fit right, you can always buy shoes. They always fit, I always smile & sigh in the store & say - "yes......shoes".
Meow - I definately feel the same way - and i know you probably picked $80 out of the air, but I have rationalized this with shoes up to $250, but NEVER willl buy a top for over $50. I don't know why, it is truly insane!!!!! I like the "now if that blouse was a pair of shoes" trick, I must try this.
I once actually said out loud to my DH "I have more shoes than I can wear now" - NEVER EVER EVER say this out loud to a man!!!!! Or anyone!!!!!!!!! It has haunted me with all of the 6 pair of shoes I bought within the past month!!!!

i totally agree. i think the reason women are so fasinated with shoes is that no matter how your weight flucuates, your shoe size will always stay the same (ok, maybe not when you're pregnant)! also, i can't tell you how many times i've worn a beater and jeans but amazing shoes and bag and people stop me and ask me where i got them.
