Do you place style above comfort or comfort over style?
I'm afraid I fall in the latter category. I like to look cute, but at the same time I need to be comfortable in what I'm wearing. For example, I hardly ever wear high heels because they always hurt my feet by the end of the day. I end up wearing kitten heels or flats most of the time. It's sad because I have some beautiful high heel shoes that I love, but hardly ever wear.
I also hate to freeze to death. So I always make sure that I'm wearing something that's appropriate for the weather. I've always wondered how some girls can run around bare-legged in their mini-skirts during winter.
Usually comfort comes first for me. Although certain occasions call for maybe an uncomfortable push-up bra or shoes that don't exactly feel like your walking on clouds. I try to get stuff thats cute and comfy at the same time.
As far as weather goes I hate hate hate being cold. But you know what I've noticed thats strange... sometimes when I dress warm I actually feel colder because I'm so bundled up. Its like my boddy adjusts to the cold when I'm not wearing enough but if my body thinks its cold even though I'm bundled up it won't let me get warm no matter how many layers I wear. Don't quit understand it myself.
funny story: i was known at my college and definitely in my sorority as the fashion guru. whenever we would all go to greek formals, some girls would TAKE OFF THEIR SHOES and proceed to dance on the floors where stupid Frat guys had spilled drinks, etc. NONE of my girls took off their shoes because they knew it was better to suffer in silence the pain of their feet than take off their shoes and risk looking like an idiot as they danced through the beer!
in fact, recently, one of my old sorority sisters told me she was at an event the other day and her feet hurt terribly and she was like "no, i will not take them off- bex would not be proud."
but really, i draw the line at shoes. if its cold/hot i am going to dress for the weather.
Defintely comfort over style. I am also one who dresses for the weather. I even have clothes that I wear just for when it is raining. I am always w/ a jacket. And I live in Flip-Flops b/c heels kill my feet.
I try to balance the two. Usually its not too difficult to be cute and comfortable for me. But when push comes to shove, I'd rather look good than be comfortable.

Style over comfort. I just don't feel right running around in public in sweatpants or gym shoes. I am starting to get into wearing jeans because they dont' have to be dry cleaned (well, most of them, anyway) And I will go to the library in my workout clothes, then work out. (NOT, like some people at school do, work out and then come to the library all sweaty and gross).
But mostly I am such a priss. Some of the brains still make fun of people like me, but there are plenty of other girls in law school who just like to dress up and make an effort, so it's no big deal...
I'm not sure I can answer this question either way. I think I have a high tolerance for things that are uncomfortable.
I am CONSTANTLY having people comment on my shoes: "how do you walk in those?", "I love those ,but I really prefer to wear comfortable shoes myself", etc. etc.
Also, if I wear a skirt in the absolute dead of winter, somebody always has to comment on it (yes I do this and I don't get why it is so weird to other people when I am outside for a total of 5 minutes the entire day and the rest of the time I am inside, where the temperature does not necessarily correspond to the temperature outside).
Other people are more concerned about my comfort than I am. How sweet of them...
aj, you articulated it perfectly. when i first saw this poll i didn't know how to answer because i thought well i know others would see what i sometimes wear as uncomfortable but i'm really perfectly comfy. for ex: high heels, i don't have a problem walking in them. would i go to disneyland or something w/ them on? no, but if i'm in my office most of the day and really not walking around much, there really isn't any discomfort involved. same goes for the temperature thing. also, i think styles today are pretty comfy (remember honey's post about the laid back nature of it all?)--i mean sevens and juicy tops are comfy imo. i don't really understand why you'd even have to choose between the two.
p.s. i also really hate passive aggressive "aren't you cold" comments. soo annoying!
I'm a combo. Sometimes I suffer to look good and sometimes I just don't have it in me to be uncomfortable the whole night. It depends. However, I'm like andreajulia and esquiress, I find that other people find my clothes much more uncomfortable than I do. I enjoy high heels and I only wear comfy ones when I know there will be walking involved. At work, they're always concerned about me walking to lunch somewhere because of my heels. I swear, people, I can handle it! That said, I have a pair of slippers at work just in case.
Here's the other thing: I always ALWAYS have on a sweater or cover-up of some sort. Even when it's August in Texas. It's so silly and sometimes I lose it for the sake of being comfortable, but I seriously am so much more comfortable with a light cardi on than a sleeveless top when I'm out. I don't know why exactly but there you have it. So I suffer for comfort... hmm - was than an option?
And when I go out to the lake/pool/beach, I wear drawstring pants or a long skirt over my swimsuit. I wear it for sun protection and I think it's more comfortable to bend over, run around, etc. with something over my swimsuit, but people are always saying stuff about how hot I must be. I'm not hot! If I were hot, I'd take the damn thing off! Geez. Plus I like the look of just one area being exposed (i.e. top or bottom) but not both. I think it's sexier.
absolutely - but only when it comes to shoes and bras. my feet are narrow (especially at the heel) and bony, so shoes pretty much always hurt or give me blisters. i deal (though sometimes by the end of the day my pain may be apparent in my face). also, i have a large chest so sometimes to wear certain things i'll have to deal with a bra that isn't exactly comfy. i try to avoid tops that need annoying bras, but sometimes they're necessary.
that said, i try to be comfy in my clothing...it's bad enough my feet hurt!

not really! i have ugly shoes for work because i am on my feet all day, and i sort of don't care. i do however, wear a strong girdle when i wear a fitted dress. but it's worth it to feel and look bulge-free.

I'm the same way! I feel ya Andrea Juila on how people usually care more about your comfort (or lack thereof) than you do. I refuse to have heels that kill my feet- I will seriously slip into a depression if I have corns, calluses and bunions on my feet!It is one of my biggest fears.I've seen women who wear amazing heels and when they take off there shoes, or they want to wear sandles their feet have more hills, valleys, and bumps than the rocky mountains.Makes me want to toss my cookies! Now as far as wearing skirts in the winter and having bear legs-I refuse! Even though I hop in my car and go into a heated building.........I just always thought it looked stupid having your bear legs out in January- in Connecticut at least. I guess I'm just programmed from childhood that when you wear skirts you wear some type of hosiery during the winter.(OMG- I sound like my mom!)
