Safe Non-Chemical Hair Dyes?
Permalink Closed

Aside from henna, I was wondering if there are any safe, deposit only hair colors that are maybe vegetable or plant based with no chemicals?  I have highlights right now and my roots are about an inch and a half long and are bothering the heck out of me.  I'm pregnant and my doctor said not to dye my hair no matter what trimester I'm in.  I just want to get rid of the highlights so that I won't have to walk around with a grown out highlights.  Anyone have an recs?

Try looking for Bigen hair powder dyes at an Asian supermarket near you. And I googled it and it came up on a bunch of online sites too.
The powder version is very natural - no amonia, no hydrogen peroxide.
It's in a orange & white box and real cheap. Like $4-5

Since there aren't all the chemicals, you mix it yourself into a paste and apply. It also doesn't last as long but doesn't damage the hair.
See more info at http://www.folica.com/Bigen_Permanent_d1246.html
I've been using it for a couple of years with no issues at all.

Only caveat - since it's an old school Japanese product - they only have shades of brown and blacks. I think the lightest color is Light Chestnut. hth!

Thanks smile.gif

I think I'll look into the Bigen, I'll have to purchase online since I live in the "country" and don't have access to anything like that.  I appreciate the suggestion!

Congrats Nunzi!!!

I've heard good things about Lush Les Cacas dyes but they only come in dark/henna shades
