I think the cheapest places here are $2.39, or at least they were earlier this week.
My sister-in-law just bought a Yukon XL (the only car she can fit all her kids in). It gets 13 miles to the gallon and she has a 7-year loan. I was like, "WHAT are you thinking?!?!"

Mine gets about 14 in town and about 17 on the highway (which I hardly ever drive on)- It totally blows.

I live in San Gabriel, which is near L.A. Right now it's $2.53 a gallon. I remember it was like $2.20 last month and it kept increasing by 10 cents a week until now. Who knows, maybe tomorrow when I have to go get gas it'll be $2.60-something!
I'm in LA too (santa monica specifically) and when i passed Arco, Chevron, & Shell this morning it was $2.59 for the lowest grade at all three. My BF thinks the same way as luckylily tho, he's glad prices are high so people will finally stop buying huge gas-guzzlers & explore hybrids & public transportation. I really don't mind the price *that* much cuz like someone else said, what's an extra 5 or 6 bucks (well, for me w/ my civic coupe... sorry to those w/ SUV's paying over $40!).
ETA: hugh?!?! i meant hugE, i guess i was picturing hef driving around in his "hugh" gas-guzzler!
