I have wanted both since last year. I feel like both are amazing in their own ways, but I wonder what would work in my wardrobe better. They are both pricey but I don't really care about one being more expensive than the other. But.. I don't think I should buy both.
First the Mayles. They come in a sapphire blue and soft pink. The material is leather and has a slight shimmery metallic to it. I know it sounds flashy (sorry there is no pic) but I think they are kinda subdued in a way. I love the cool design and they are comfy. They are definitely dressy and casual, and since most of my clothes are black or grey, I can see them really jazzying up my wardrobe! Although they may be slightly flashy, I think they could work for the office. $350
Here they are in other colors:
Second are the Louboutins. They come in alot of colors (I would probabyl get black and the fiber is just natural colored). The neg is that it's a natural fiber shoe but the ribbon is adhered to leather. I think they could work with alot of things but I'm a little iffy on wearing them to work. $250 ( I have a Saks and Barneys gift card.. so wherever I can find my color and size)
Below in yellow. Check the Barneys site for other colors.
seriously, I would go for the Mayles - the louboutins are strictly summer and not as versatile (I personally don't think they are office appropriate -- unless you work as a hostess or man a tanning salon counter (neither of which are offices IMO)) anyway - the Mayles are good for spring, summer and fall. and you love them. and the louboutins are too espadrilley - may be too summer of '06 next year. wedges are popular right now but less trendy.

i say the mayles only because i get espadrilles every summer and they end up getting trashed from all the wear. as detroit said, i could see the mayles being more seasonless...and i think they are really a bit more special. you should get the mayles and maybe the carlos santana shoes that look similarly.
mayles. the louboutins look too platformy (is that a word ) even for wedges.

Thanks everyone! Yes I would love to get both, but I have my eyes on a handbag and want to limit my spending. I also have the C. Ronson Annabelles which could be used in the same way the Louboutins would be.
I think it was helpful to write out all my shopping thoughts, but now it's clear to get the Mayles! Thanks for the help! I will post a picture when I get them.

stalking them at Macy's. but i was disappointed then the inside wasn't fabric lined. but still worth it... definitely non nonononoono to Louboutins. it's all so obvious now! the mayles of course! :smacking self on the head: duh!
Dot- I should get the Mayles too and we can be Mayle friends! Yay! Those are probably 9 gazillion times better than the louboutins- too $$$ for non-leather.
Oh- are the colors you told me about yesterday slingbacks or like the ones you posted with the backs? Which kind do you prefer since I am using you as my eyes. I like the red a lot- you say the black is cuter though? how so?
