buying something after listing ends?

is this what they warn you about? i'm thinking it's ok because of the circumstances, but just want to check with you ladies who are more expert at the whole ebay thing than me.

so there was a top from styledose (a favorite seller of a lot of people here and one i have bought several things from and not had a problem).  it wasn't on BIN, it just had an auction, which ended over the weekend while i was away from my computer.  i did actually remember it right before the auction ended and i attempted to bid (there were no other bids) but my computer was too slow and i got a "bidding has ended" message from ebay.

so i e-mailed styledose to ask if they were going to relist it.  they e-mailed me back saying that they could just invoice me for it if i wanted to buy it for the opening bid amount.  should i do this? is there a reason not to? the opening bid price was fair and i would be happy to pay it and have the item.  what do you think?

I think in this case it is fine because styledose is a reputable seller. They even have an e-commerce site. I have done something similar when I forgot to bid on this bracelet.

I've done this when I forgot to bid on something too. I've never had a problem - and I've only done it with sellers that are reputable.

ok, so they didn't respond to my e-mail questions or anything, or confirm that they have my address so that they can send the top.  instead, they just sent me an invoice containing a total ($53.84) with no explanation of what it is.  i am assuming it's $49.99 (opening bid) plus the tax and no shipping charge since it's local.  but shouldn't they tell me that? i feel like they aren't treating me very nicely.  i'd like to know that the top i'm ordering is actually going to arrive, rather than just throwing $53 into the ether and hoping for the best.
