I can't figure out how to cancel my old AOL account. Does anyone know the 800 number I should call or where I can find it? I've been looking all over AOL and can't seem to find what I'm looking for and getting v frustrated.

I can't remember how I got the number to call them. It was next to impossible to cancel my account. They had me on hold for over twenty minutes; I suppose they were hoping I would just hang up. Then they went through an interrogation on why I was cancelling. I can be difficult at times so I refused to cooperate and wouldn't tell them anything, hee, hee. Then they tried everything to get me to not cancel. They offered me 6 months free service even.
I recommend you get the name (and id number, if possible) of the rep. who helps you and note the date and time of your call. I have heard of people not getting their service cancelled after all the torture.
yep...it's annoying to cancel and i don't know the number or where to find it. but i do know, like Drew indicated, they don't always cancel it anyway. OR they try to trick you. so be on the lookout afterwards for suspicious letters from them in the mail. my fiance cancelled (he said he was going to school and would have high speed ethernet from them, a good excuse/reason to use, by the way, true or not) and then a month or so later got a letter saying "thank you for renewing your AOL account." !!!! unbelievable. so he had to call them again.
here's a number, it says it's for joining, but surely they can redirect you if they can't help you, right?

Yes! Definitely call the new member number. That was a trick I learned a few years back! They would pick up that line much quicker (probably because it involves getting more money)! I haven't called in years though, and I can't remember what it was I used to call AOL about.
