I personally wouldn't give her a refund until she sends you photos of the spots. If you read the ebay forums, alot of buyers lie about things like this just to get some money back. Ask for proof!

Even if she did, she could spill something on it and say it was already there. In fact, maybe that's what happened: she spilled something on herself and is trying to blame it on you.
It is all these posts from you guys that remind me why I don't bother with e-bay. E-bay is a good concept, but there are just too many dishonest and ignorant people that screw things up.

yeah? so? what does she think people did before the recent digital camera craze? you used to have to scan your hard copy photos to place them on ebay. that's just what she's gonna have to do if she wants a refund. I really hope you haven't left her feedback yet... I have a personal rule to not leave feedback until the buyer does - buyers can be mentally deranged and can hold feedback over your head - I refuse to play that game.

oh - another thought - I ALWAYS insure packages that I send - you never know what will happen to the item during shipping. If you insured the package, you can tell her that you sent it in as described condition and it must have happened during shippng and that she needs to contact the post office to file a claim.

Umm, why are you responsible? I would tell the buyer to go scratch. She should have paid for insurance if she was concerned about the item. Do you have a statement of non-liability for items not insured by the buyer? If not, add it in right away.
I had a buyer contact me almost a month after a sale, and two weeks after she left me positive feedback, try and say she never received the item. I flat out called her a liar and she wrote back with an apology saying it was a mistake.
Don't be afraid to stick up for yourself when you know you are right.
buyers freak out all the time, you never know who you are dealing with. some just make mistakes, others are dishonest, others are in serious need of a mental health evaluation. buyers also to hold sellers up to the standards of a retail store - asking for returns, exchanges, extremely detailed information and measurements, and special shipping options you don't provide (overseas, FedEx, etc.) I mean, yes, it is our responsibility to provide enough info for the buyers, and obviously they should expect that they are getting exactly what we are advertising, but after a certain point they have to accept that EBay is basically an electronic yard sale and there are certain limitations to it.
anyway...i digress...if you listed photos on your auction of the shirt, that should be your proof that the shirt was in good condition when you sold it...the onus is on her to prove that the shirt is stained.
