Energy Bars
Permalink Closed

Whats everyone's take on these.  I've eaten half before and half after my last few work-outs and they've given me some extra energy and didn't upset my stomach at all... however, I don't know what I should be looking for in these bars, or if they are even good for me.

Any advice would be great, TIA!

95% of protein/energy bars are crap loaded up with a lot of sugar and calories. But Luna is good. 180 calories,(a good snack shoud be under 200) lots of vitamins, taste good, 12 grams of protein I believe.  They're good for after a workout.  Remember, after you work out, you have about an hour to eat protien to repair your muscles, so eat up! hth Oh, smores is my fave flavor!

I love the lemon zest and key lime pie Luna bars.  I also love Zone bars.  Not sure if they are the best choices- I go purely by taste

lynnie--I go by taste too

I love key lime pie and nuts over chocolate luna bars

I also LOVE the taste of the chocolate peanut butter Zone bars (if I have no time for breakfast I just grab one of these and go)

I also really like honey peanut balance bars (these can't be all bad, the dieticians at work put them on the snack list.  Now that I think of it, lunas can't be bad either because they are also on the snack list).

Wal-Mart has a tasty store brand one, but I cant remember the name. It comes in some similar flavors as the Zone bar. The mocha flavor is one in particular, very good, and of course there is a peanut butter chocolate one. They are good, kind of high in calories, but I am pretty sure they are sugar free. So, if you are watching your sugra intake, this would be good. If however you are watching your artificial sweetener intake, not so good.
Also, Powerbar has a no sugar added bar that I enjoy.
I also like the Kashi Oatmeal cookie bar.

Another Luna Bar fan here! My favorite is Nuts 'n Cranberry; I love Peanut Butter 'n Jelly and Sesame Raisin Crunch but they discontinued those flavors!
