Ughghghg! I'm just bitching because my roommate has LICE (!!!!) and I now have to either wash all my clothes or bag them for 2 weeks! And I have finals! And I have to do the lice shampoo thing to my hair! I have extremely thick curly hair, the woman said she thought it would take like an hour and a half. Ugh this sucks so much and it's the worst possible time!
Omg, Maddie. That's awful! I thought lice were a young childhood thing? Do you mean the kind that live on little kid's heads? Oh - that's disgusting! Wash everything! Wash the crap out of your hair. Blergh.

Apparently it started with some girl who volunteers at an elementary school, then she spread it to her floor and my roommate practically lives on that floor. There are two other floors that are pretty much completely infested too. It's soooooo gross! The lady checked my hair and said I didn't have any, but I still have to do all the stuff just cause there are probably some in my clothes or something. Ugh.

Haha, not with this roommate. She's a hardcore Christian. Thanks for your sympathy, everyone!
So I just found out that unless my clothes can go in the dryer they have to be bagged for 2 weeks. This means pretty much all of my clothes! Arghgrh! I'm going to NYC in 1.5 weeks and I will have nothing to wear!
Hey, a better excuse to do some shopping while there!
Anyways, I've never had to deal with lice, thank god, but when I worked at CP a summer, I had bedbugs. Some girl in the hall got them and it spread over the whole section of hall. I had bite marks and everything; they itched like hell! But, I had to wash EVERY single piece of clothing, linens, etc. that I had. It ended up being like 5 loads of laundry and 3 dryer loads. Then I had to keep everything bagged up and down in the lobby until I moved to a new room.
I definitely can sympathize with you on this, even though mine was slightly different! Having no access to any or your wardrobe sucks the big one!
oh man, this sucks! did you figure out what to do with your clothes? if i read what you posted right, it sounds like the heat of the dryer will kill any lice that might be in the clothes? can you scrape together enough items that can be machine dried to take with you on your trip, and then maybe buy yourself one new nice outfit with pieces that can mix and match with the other stuff? i think you really deserve one, maddie.
when i was a little kid, i got taken to the "nurse's" office and burst into tears when the volunteer lady looked at my head and said i had lice and called my mother. my mom got there and took one look at my head and told the lady "did she just come in from hanging upside down on the monkey bars? because that is SAND on her head, not lice." phew!
I have enough clothes to make my trip work, cause I'm expecting new Citizens and my Charlotte beach pants in the mail this week. And i just ended up drying some t-shirts and capris that I usually wouldn't. It sucked so much, I was up til 3 last night dealing with lice! And I can't really buy myself a lot of stuff now because between shampos, room sprays, laundry, etc, lice has cost me about $60. Anyways, at leat my room is really clean now.

There is a type of shampoo that you used to have to wash your hair in if you had lice. I knew a girl that was so paranoid about getting it that she used to wash her hair in it even though she did not have lice. You might consider doing that for awhile.
