ooh yay, i just finished my book yesterday and just brought a magazine to work cause i couldn't think of anything to read.  looking forward to suggestions.  oh, and i know nothing about those three books you posted, sowwy.

i just finished Fast Food Nation (finally got around to reading it) and yep, i pretty much don't want to eat *anything* ever again.  i wouldn't even trust it coming out of my own garden at this point.  ...need some time to forget...

am also rereading Memoirs of a Geisha in preparation for the movie coming out at Xmas time.  can't wait!

I am reading Travels with My Aunt by Graham Greene. I am loving it so far. I can't commment on the other books but they are both ones I am interested in reading, I would love to see some feedback too! Oh, I read Fast Food Nation. Oh, the horror. That poor man who got hurt working at the meat packing plant?? It was a startling read. Did you see Supersize Me?? I haven't. I am afraid.
I read Remains of the Day. Lovely book, lovely movie, I am sure Never Let Me Go will be great. I haven't read anything by McEwan but I have Atonement in my heap of books to "get to". I keep picking up more and reading those, it is truly like a disease.

I was reading The Grapes of Wrath cause I'd never read it, but now that it's hell week I've been very absorbed in The Principles of Chemistry by Munowitz. Just riveting stuff.

I love David Sedaris too.  He cracks me up!

I am reading the new Catherine de Medici biography (well, newly published in the US) because I was in a biography mood, and I need a pick me up, so I got it to read.

and The Know It All, about a guy who read all 32 volumes of the Encyclopedia Britannica in a year. It's pretty funny, actually.

and I am also reading Faith and Treason by Antonia Fraser.  It's about the Gunpowder Plot.

i literally just finished middlesex by jeffrey eugendies. for some reason it took me a really long time to get through -- though that is not reflection on the book b/c it rocked.

i should read sons & lovers by dh lawrence b/c it's sitting on my shelf and i haven't read it yet. but i'm taking a trip to the bookstores tomorrow so i'll take a look around and see what strikes my fancy. i'm also strongly considering prep (sage posted about it) or the new jonathan safran foer book, but that's only if i can find a relatively cheap copy at the used bookstore.

haha i remember taking this seminar on 20th century British Literature and i distinctly recall my professor saying Atonement is famous for its steamy love scene. Apparently its pretty racy.

I just re-read my favorite book of all times White Oleander by Janet Fitch - I don't know why I love it so much, but her writing is just so literary - it makes me reflective for some reason - then I want to read poetry, it's very odd. And I'm on a Dan Brown kick - Angels & Demons, DaVinci Code, Digital Fortress, all in a short time, now I'm about to start Deception Point. And of course, if you haven't read the shopaholic series, you MUST. It's my favorite fun / funny books when you just want to read something that doesn't require much deep thought! (Sophie Kinsella)

I also just joined that group that someone suggested www.frugalreader.com - you list books you want to get rid of & you can get books for free, basically you mail you books via media mail $1.42, so that's all you spend and the members send you books. I have 2 coming from that but i can't even remember what i requested now! But so far so good.

I read "Snow" and really liked it.  I wouldn't say it is a great literary masterpiece.  It is almost a non-fiction commentary on veiling, Islam, extremism, but written in a story format.  I found it facinating, but I also got my masters in Arab Studies...so I am a bit biased.  I am currently reading "Dark Star Safari" by Paul Theroux.  It is a travel book written as the author travels through Africa from Cairo to Capetown.  He has an interesting perspective although I don't agree with everything he says.

I really enjoyed Atonement and I was thinking of reading the new McEwan book, so if you pick it up let me know how it is.

I'm currently reading Haunted Heritage...I love real ghost stories!  I've been into this stuff since 6th grad and the people who wrote the books in this series (4 of them total) do a great job with it..

Pepper, he's got a whole series about living in Provence, and I liked every single one.  It reminds me of the summer I spent there during college.

Catherine, I was surprised at how much I liked the movie.  I am usually a big book to movie snob, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Add me to the list of people who pre-ordered the latest HP book.
