I bet Ramona read a lot as she got older and had deep thoughts - ones Bridget didn't, although I'm sure she read too. I think Ramona grew up to be a bit fringey, don't you think? I wish there was an adult Ramona Quimy series. That would be the coolest."
Oh I defintely think Ramona was fringey. She'd be so cool as an adult! I wish there was a series. Beverly Cleary has some books about teenagers, but they just aren't that good. Have you read her autobiographies though? I love them! I totally related to them in like middle school/early high school but I think I've become less of a goody-goody since then.

Oh how I would like to be able to say I'm like Lizzie! Is she not one of the greatest female characters ever written? (I'm horribly prejudiced - no pun intended - because I'm crazy about all things Austen.) Unfortunately I'm not as nice and accepting as she is. And probably not as clever, although I try to be.
And most importantly, I want to be Lizzie so I can find my Darcy! (Or Colin Firth, whichever - I'm not picky.)
I think I am Emma (shout out to my fellow Austen fans). And Mr. Knightley is soooo my dream man.
But when the film version of Mansfield Park came out, I had a lot of friends calling me Fanny Price (friends who hadn't read the book and didn't know that the movie version was basically Jane Austen in the situation of the book, and that in the book Fanny Price was sweet and quiet and shy and sickly).
And, I LOVED Ramona Quimby. Very interesting debate re: Ramona and Bridgette. Bridgit? Whatever.

First off, wasn't the movie version of Mansfield Park simply dreadful? And if someone called me Fanny Price, I'd be pissed. Tell your friends to read a book! Of course, if they called me Jane Austen, I'd be flattered (as the Fanny in the movie version was).
Mr. Knightley is great, too. He's my grown-up version of a good man, but Darcy is my young and proud man whose heart I'm always trying to win. (Frankly I think Darcy is the sole reason I am severely and unabashadly attracted to complete assholes. I hope Jane's happy.)

I haven't read anything by Beverly Clearly since I was in high school or junior high. Too bad she can't capture the adult world the way she could the child one.
I think I'm going to be Ramona for Halloween this year. I wonder how many people would get it?
I am embarrassed to say I haven't read Emma yet. I think that will be the next book on my list.
But yeah, Fanny Price? Sorry 'bout that, Lisa.
Bluebirde, Ramona is a brilliant Halloween costume! I might be your Ramona twin. I just have to con someone into being Beezus. I think the key to a recognizable Ramona costume would be having Chevrolet to tote arouind.
Is there a pattern here? Do little girls who love Ramona grow into women who love Jane Austen???

Hmmm.... I'm not sure but that's an interesting idea. Someone should write their senior thesis on Ramona vs. other fab female characters throughout literature. I wonder what the end result would be?
I'm going to have to re-read the Ramona books to get all the details down for the Halloween costume! What fun!
And you HAVE to read Emma. It's one of her best, if not the best. And after you read it, carefully mind you, watch Clueless. You may think you've seen Clueless but you haven't really seen it until you watch it immediately after reading Emma.
This is sort of late, but I'd say 35% Elaine from Seinfeld 35% Rory from Gilmore Girls 15% Monk (on the show, not a real monk ) 15% Charlotte from SATC
