Okay I was brave enough to go through with it and put blond highlights. Here are some pics. These pics you cant really see them but you can see the shape of the cut. The front has a small swing to it. I think next time Iam going to leave the sides a bit longer

I have been thinking of getting highlighs in my hair, unsure of what color or how much upkeep it would be. Please share your advice and thoughts. Thanks


When I color my hair I go with a dark brown but my hair pulls red at times. Or that is what it looks like to me.

Here it a few days ago , maybe it was the lighting  that made my hair look lighter. Excuse the glasses...ugh.

I always thought your hair was auburn. So it's really brown?
I'd go with some red in it.

No its really brown, I took out the red out  about year and half. I dye it dark brown to cover up my grays

What about some caramel-y highlights?  It looks like you hair has red undertones, like mine.  If you go too bright your highlights will most likely tend to go brassy.  I think a warmer tone would compliment those undertones and be a little less upkeep.

I think you'd look great with a dirty blonde color because you have light eyes, skin, and eyebrows.

I get highlights, but I am like mega blond right now, so the upkeep is somewhat hellish (I get them done every 8 weeks and get my base color adjusted as well).

you could probably go less frequently depending on how much lighter the highlights are and/or how fast your hair grows.
