Sprint PCS - Update!
Permalink Closed

I'm soooooo mad right now!  Just needed to vent.

Just got off the phone with Customer Service with Sprint.  As you gals know, I've been in and out of the US over the past year working abroad in China for months at a time.  Every time I do go to China, I put my account on a vacation plan ($5 a month).  Well the last time I did that, they informed me that I could put my account on vacation plan until my contract expires in october 2005...  Which thrilled me cuz I wanted to switch over the Cingular and figured I'll do so and just pay $5 a month with Sprint until the end of the contract.

Today, I called Sprint to put my account on "vacation", and now they are saying that becuase I am switching plans, I have to extend my contract!!!!  wtf!!!!  I have changed my plan back and forth for the past year, and nobody ever said that before!  Which I calmly explained to the representative as well as her supervisor.  Supervisor merely says "I can't explain what happened before, but all I can say is that we are following procedures now".

Short of canceling my account and paying $150, is there anything else I can do?

can you call back later and talk to another supervisor? I wouldn't cancel until you talked to at least another supervisor or maybe their supervisor.

As for a new company have you checked into T-Mobile? I have Cingular and will be switching to T-Mobile when my contract expires in October since T-Mobile has better CS and better service.

I said the same to the supervisor, she said that it wouldn't work cuz my account is being noted that I HAVE to extend my contract!

I am going to try anyway.

Well from my previous experience with Sprint you may not have actually been speaking to a real supervisor. Because when I have had problems with them in the past whenever I ask to speak to a supervisor they make up some kind of lie or they just tell me no. I have had my service with them for 4 years and never gone through a full contract because they always extend it when I change. But, I have less then a yr left and I am not giving in.

I would just keep calling and harassing until you get someone that will give in to you or will know what you've done in the past.  I worked in tech support and I would brush people off when I didn't want to deal with the issue and that's probably what they are doing to you.

C.S. can't hang up on you, unless you curse at them.  whenever i am annoyed, or want to talk to a manager, i always ask them to repeat their name (even ask how to spell it).  they seem to get freaked out when they know you are holding them accountable for their actions...that you're writing their name down.  i always seem to get the nice version of the CS rep as soon as they know that i have their name.

also, this may not help you, if you want to cancel.  but i recently lost my phone, but didn't want to buy a new one (and i was pretty sure that no one was making calls)...so i called CS and said "cancel now".  IMMEDIATELY, i was talking to a rep and i said how my phone was acting up (i didn't tell them i lost it), dropping calls, that i know i can get more minutes, with free texting with another provider,etc...so the lady doubled my minutes, gave me a new, upgraded phone, free texting, if i would sign a one year contract.  that's exactly what i wanted her to say.  this would only be useful info if you want to keep sprint (or maybe you can try it with another provider if you are ever having issues).

finally, remind them several times what a competitive business they are in, and that there are several places that you can go to with your business!

Update - So I called today to try to put it on vacation plan and did not mention any of the previous conversation.  The guy put me on hold for 10 minutes and says "I can't put you on vacation plan becuase you don't have a contract with us anymore"!!!!!

I'm like "what?", so all these arguments were for no reason at all!  I can cancel with Sprint at anytime and I was arguing with those women for nothing?!!?!?  They never bothered to tell me that, they were just trying to get me to sign up for another 2 years.  WTF!!

I swear, everyday I have more and more proof that male Customer Service reps are nicer than female.
