i just finished a few books and i thought i'd post on here and see what everyone else is reading.
i consider these "bathtub books", nice light ones you can get lost in.

"good luck" by whitney gaskell
girl has worst day of her life, girl wins lottery, girl soon realizes all the trouble that money brings

"riding lessons" and "flying changes" by sara gruen (if you like horses at all, you'll love these books.)
after bitter divorce, mother brings daughter back to childhood home: a horse farm in Virginia.
mother has a hard time letting daughter show jump because of a serious accident that almost killed her.

I am currently finishing the Scarlet Pimpernel. Up next will be The Blonde Theory followed by She went all the Way. Not really sure what those two are about so I'll have to get back to you on them. The Scarlet Pimpernel is about the French Revolution and this mysterious Brit and a secret league who sneak into France to save people from the guillotine. It was slow to start but has been pretty good.

I've just finished 'The Master and Margarita' - Mikhail Bulgakov (kind of weird and hard work, but quite enjoyed it too), and 'What a carve up!' - Jonathon Coe, which was good.

I'm reading 'Rebecca' at the moment - Daphne Du Maurier - very good so far!

The Monster of Templeton by Lauren Groff was great. It's about a woman in her late twenties who comes home pregant from grad school and is given the challenge of finding out who in her small town is actually her father. It blends the past and present and various narrators. It's really a compelling read.

Last month I read "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" and really enjoyed it. It's about a pathetic, naive Dominican boy growing up in the U.S. and in the D.R. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm currently reading "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" and also really enjoying it. The writing is beautiful. It's a long book and I've been really busy lately so I haven't been able to get very far into it.

Over the holidays I read "In Defense of Food" and it was fascinating. It's all about the real reasons why our country is getting fatter and how getting back to a less-processed diet is ultimately the healthiest option.

I just finished reading The Painted Drum by Louise Erdrich. I really liked it. Beautifully written, interesting plot, haunting themes that make you think.

Eragon is a fantastic book! I'm really enjoying the (since Harry Potter) regrowth of fantasy fiction for young adults/children. What kind of little kid doesn't want to read about dragons? It's an amazing way to get little kids into books, I think.

Cool! You are the 2nd person I know who has read it lol. It's my friend's favourite book ever so he suggested I read it. But whenever I try to explain what it's about to anyone it just sounds weird to them

I just read When You are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris. I laughed out loud a number of time while reading it.

Finished "The Jane Austen Book Club" by Karen Joy Fowler. It's a good book, and it made me want to read Austen's novels. I checked the neighborhood bookstore, and they have all her novels, but I am afraid I wouldn't be able to understand her english, it's much more complicaed than "modern" english...
