I've been fairly bad lately about going to the gym regularly so I didn't realize how outdated my iPod tunes were until last weekend. I don't have any "new" pop songs on there since Avril sang Girlfriend which I think was last summer. I am still listening to Britney's old stuff, etc.
So I have an iTunes gift card and am not too sure what I want to purchase in the way of songs or even what songs are popular on the radio. My daily commute is all of 5 minutes each day. I'm kinda lost and in search of recommendations. I want upbeat for the gym.
Hmm...my taste doesnt really run toward pop (though I do love myself some Brit). But here is what I am listening to these days, not sure if it is your taste in music though.
- MGMT
- Kings of Leon
- Eric Hutchinson
- Adele (not very upbeat...think Amy Winehouse-ish)
i can help you with that one, being addicted to itunes! haha
here's some of my recent favorites: (these are all more upbeat)
lady gaga - just dance lady gaga - poker face kelly clarkson - my life would suck without you britney spears - circus britney spears - womanizer kanye west - love lockdown kanye west - heartless kevin rudolf and lil wayne - let it rock fall out boy - i don't care the ting tings - that's not my name beyonce - single ladies (put a ring on it) crack a bottle - eminem brandy - right here (departed) savage - swing MGMT - time to pretend jordin sparks - one step at a time missy elliot - shake your pom pom colby o'donis - what you got pink - so what pink - sober chris brown - forever kardinal offishall featuring akon - dangerous

I can't stop listening to the Ting Tings song "That's Not My Name"
Also, they're not new, and I definitely wouldn't call them pop, but I'm a big fan of Ratatat. Great music to dance around to, drive to, work out...etc. :)
Also not new at all, but MIKA is really fun and poppy.
What clothes horse said! Those are all great workout songs, I have a lot of them on my ipod, too.
I listen to mostly alternative and some of my other current favorites for working out are
Bravery - honest mistake 3oh!3 - don't trust me Franz Ferdinand - Ulysses asteroids galaxy tour - around the bend Kooks - do you wanna Shiny Toy Guns - Ghost town
you can hear a sample on itunes, too, in case you weren't aware. just double click on whichever song you are interested in and it'll play a little 30 second clip. hth

I did not know that. I figured there had to be a way to do that but couldn't figure it out so far. I"ll give that a whirl.
Have you ever tried www.pandora.com? I love this site. It is free and you put in songs you like and it matches you up with other songs you may like. It is really cool.
Another thing I do ( and I know how cheesy this sounds) is to check out jazzercise.com. They have songlists in there of songs they play in class. Most of the stuff on there is perfect for making your own workput mix. HTH!
