I apologyze if this has already been discussed... I have been reading lately on a lots of blogs their experimenting with using baking soda instead of shampoo. Some liked it, and said it made their hair very soft, others say it's not their things, and prefer other solutions. Thoughts? has anyone tried it? I am curious... may be once a week or once every other wash? I don't know...
EGH baking soda is so grainy, I can imagine it'd be hard to get out.
My dentist recommends making a paste with baking soda and peroxide to smooth any abrasions on my teeth, make them shine more.. maybe this is the concept???
mm don't know it's pretty soluble, so warm water would rinse it pretty well (the chemist in me speaking...) the problem would probably be to work it throught the hair...
Thinking about it, I would think it would work really well- when I use it to polish my jewelry, my hands feel amazingly smooth afterwards... hmm! Might try it.
I use about a teaspoon of baking soda mixed with my shampoo, once a week. I read about it in a magazine awhile back. Anyway, you just mix it in and wash as usual. I then condition my hair. When I emerge, voila! Super clean hair, no product residue and my hair is super shiny. Not hard to rinse out at all.

I've been doing this for years! I read about it in a magazine at least 15 years ago. I just mix some into my shampoo. I do think it breaks up any residue and makes my hair look good. I don't do it regularly, just when I think I need it.
I've tried it. You are supposed to wash with baking soda and condition with a vinegar and water rinse. I could never get the balance right though. Just google "no poo" (no shampoo) and you'll get all sorts of information on it.
